SO, Did Eagle pilots win the lottery today?

mooneyguy

been around forever
Or did we lose? lol
I'm still trying to translate the legal talk but a couple of key points that came out today.
1.Every American Eagle pilot who is on the American Eagle pilot seniority list as of October 11, 2011 will be offered a job as an American Airlines pilot in the future.
2. American Eagle pilots hired under this settlement agreement will not be subjected to a pre-employment interview or pre-employment medical examination prior to transferring to American Airlines.
3. American Eagle pilots will be offered a minimum of 35% of every American Airlines new-hire class. In the event that 35% of American Airlines’ new hire class is greater than 25 pilots per month, American Eagle will be required to release at least 25 Eagle pilots per month.
And the grievance over selling equipment. Which now prevents Eagle or Executive from selling or transferring assets or making those assets available to another carrier.
Still trying to figure out the "assets" Grievance

It's nice to hear good news for once!!!

When I first got the MEC phone call I was thinking we were all screwed with the tone of voice that he had.

Smoke and mirrors dude. We lost our aircraft in the spinoff to gain a few more preferential hires at AA, WHEN they need them. They still have to get through the 824 that already get to go. You and I could very easily be flying the same plane this time next year at a new airline, at YEAR ONE pay.

I think Eagle is about to get flooded with applications..

Anyone on the seniority list by October 11, 2011 has the opportunity to go to AA.

Not taking that job at Beagle was easily the single biggest mistake I've made in this industry so far.

Yeah I see that. I think the only thing that might save us there is we would have to be integrated into another ALPA represented carrier. Why pick up AA feed if you have to take the plane and pilot, and ALPA (if you are not currently alpa represented). Oh well, guess it will be an interesting ride:)

Can you beat leaving Eagle for another regional, getting furloughed, now on the other side of the mic, and would have been upgrading at Eagle if I stayed? That being said I think I would hate life by now if I stayed... Hopefully its not a bait and switch for the Eagle guys...

I was wondering about this. Wasn't AMR talking about trying to "monetize" Eagle only a few scant months ago?

My bet is on AMR taking everybody from now until October into American, and then running Eagle into the ground, liquidating it, and then farming the regional feed to somebody else.

Or at least that's what I'd do.

How bout this.....

Open up the floodgates and bring on the top third of eagle. Then due to "unforeseen market conditions," furlough them! Your AMR Eagle operating costs just went wayyyy down!

Didn't they always have the flow through program to AA? What happens to pilots hired after Oct? Sounds like this could be bad news and not good.

I think you're on to something! The biggest issue with eagle is they are top heavy! 361 with 20 or more years 570 with 15 or more. I think they would love to thin out the top, and what better way then to move them to AA and now they're (the top pay scale pilots) back at the bottom of the pay scale!

Yes but those individuals have to volunteer to go. Alot would not volunteer in the last wave when they were offering year 3 pay starts. A good amount of these people will stay until the last light goes out. If that were not the case, then AMR would not be divesting Eagle.

Sorry but this "Amazzzzing win" Eagle pilots got today seems bittersweet to me. Time will tell I guess. Apparently we are all supposed to be jumping in the streets according to the union.

One has to read the whole language of the paper, according to the language for each new pilot class being formed 25% of the class is to be Eagle and the rest is new hires from the street.

So then...what happens when American can not get their regional feed into the hubs, because Eagle is so understaffed due to the "preferential hiring?"

Yeah, that'd suck.

Do you have any clue about what you are talking about? The only group to go over on 3th year pay was the first 215.
Most of the guys that could take it did. I have yet to fly with a CA in the 824 that doesn't plan on taking it even the 59 1/2 year old CA I was flying with last month plans on taking it.

Almost it is 35%(not less then 25 a month) or 50% if Eagle has guys on the street.

I'd also agree that the majority of the 824 will go. I have flown with guys who aren't gonna take it but they were all 50-55+ senior dogs that don't have alot to gain. Pretty much every guy under 50+ will go.

Yes you are right - How about "Some" would not go? I believe the number was 284, of which 240 actually went? Certainly not "alot". I got carried away sorry.
