Snort has apparently gone west

This accident at Fullerton CA. The rudder, elevator gust lock was in place. It was reinstalled by an over zealous CAP’er without the pilots knowledge.

The guy in the white shirt owned the Bushmaster, his fathers design. I’ve heard the story directly from him.

Damn. I hope he died on impact.

@///AMG can go ahead and mock me for my "many words", and I'll once again be ok with that. But, damn! That Pic! Ugh. Despite the inverted airplane, WOW that looks like Eddie's end!! And, DAMN! I pray it was not, and I pray he didn't have to wait almost 5 freaking minutes for the "quick response" team to show up. :(

edit: just watched the full vid. No, that sequence does NOT look like Eddie's end. The end result (cover still) does. Still, hope he perished in blunt trauma and not in fire. Fire is a horrible and medieval way to go... 'specially when you know there are firetrucks seconds away who are taking minutes to get to you. Kinda like watching America burn right now while waiting for those nice, polite, hard-working, self-sacrificing firefighters to show up and save us. (For the retarded who are about to pounce, that's NOT a dig at firefighters... that's a dig at about 25% of current "Americans".)

Well that was dramatic. Be interesting to hear in a year or so. Of course it looks like it uses Cessna seat rails so the Cessna Slide is always a possibility too.
Yeah, if he was in the front and the seat slid back would it pin the rear stick in the aft position?

Jeebus! Looks like another Fairchild Frolicker?? Another Elmendorf Excursion?? But you say another Bedford Bomber?? Either way, it'S ALL GOOD, MAN! Exceeding critical unintentionally and with DIH surprise factor at low altitude? ... pretty much always sucks.

Go! No pre-power control check! Go!

EOD... I really, really hope this doesn't turn out to be another Eddie Andreini at Travis debacle. From the early reports, it sounds like it has potential to be.

I was at Travis that day, manning our Sqn's booster club booth. Sad day, I remember thinking why is the fire dept taking so long?

Hearing that he may have been in a hurry given his abbreviated ATC communications. Also, it seems from camera angle that tailwheel does not rise at any time during his takeoff run which leads one to wonder if it was a control lock situatuion realized too late.
My first thought as well. He sounded rushed and was still on ground. Controller switched him to tower on the roll.

It's the snake you don’t see that usually bites you. Be careful out there!

As I watched this video, I recalled one from an Army safety briefing. "Snort's" crash sequence of events is remarkably similar to the Army Caribou that crashed due to control lock being engaged.

Once I'm on the runway at an uncontrolled airport I'm going before someone hits me. Takeoff and landing, I practice minimum time on the runway, it's not a safe place.

No argument here. For my money, the visual obstructions between airplanes and airports vary each time and it is the easiest way to spot the Wrong-Way Corrigans.

Agree and added to your statement....
