Note to self...don't search Google images for a picture, copy the URL for said picture and then post it without know exactly what it says!

Sorry y'all!

Here's what you get in Korea with a 300hr wonder who has 250 lives in their hands:clap:
Not to pick nits, but I've watched the video several times now. And even at high resolution, I don't see the pilots logbook shown anywhere. :dunno:

I'm not supporting 300hr pilots in the right seat of a heavy however they really have no choice in most of these countries. Experience is key however if they are going to put low time guys in the right seat at least they are trying there best not to kill a boat load of people. I think our training departments have a lot to learn about mentoring and observing rather then get the guy online as quickly as possible.

Part of the problem is that they will only hire their own citizens at 300hrs. If you aren't from the country, some of them will hire you as an FO, but you need thousands of hours and time in type. I think if they just relaxed their hiring qualifications of ex-pats a little bit, they wouldn't need so many 300hr pilots.

I trained a guy that had around 300hrs and went for the 777 job in Taiwan. I don't know if he got it or not, but the same company will hire ex-pats, but again you need boatloads of time. He did say they get to jumpseat (as you mentioned), and they also get a year in the sim (with the ground school). So yeah there is much more training. I don't know where the quality stands, but if you look at our military, they have low time guys flying heavy transports and fighters. I would argue that our military has better training, but I could see how these 300 hour guys could come in and do OK. They do this in Europe and Africa too.
