Skywest Hiring?

Anybody get a call to interview? Rumor on our SAPA forum is that some have been called.

Maybe for our new 73-800s that we're gonna fly as a code share with Airtran. Har har, j/k... ;)

I believe they are. One of our senior flight instructors got an email and a phone call. They set an interview date for August 13th. I'll let you know what happens and if they schedule a class.

I work over at KSLC at Leading Edge Aviation, how bout you? I made a mistake his interview date is on the 17th. Let's keep the fingers crossed and hope everything keeps turning around.

Currently out of work. What were his times, do you know?

The rumors du jour in the SKYW crew room, according to a buddy of mine:

--500 newhires beginning in October.

--acquisition of aircraft/routes (but not personnel) from Comair.

Whatever it is, something is afoot; SKYW's share price is up 9% in the last two days despite Q2 income reported down yesterday and declines among most airline stocks.

What a load of crap. I'm with you on that!

Seriously dude. I can't imagine what the mothership is thinking with this one. In a percentage based integration, many of those 500 pilots will end up senior to pilots at XJT and ASA that have been on furlough for YEARS.

I hope they expect a fight over that one too.

Pardon me for injecting yet another useless opinion in this matter, but if we do end up integrating everyone together wouldn't we be using snapshots of the seniority list on the day of the announced merger? Isn't that what Delta and NW did?

Not sure. Doug?

My coworker is higher time pilot, he has 60 hours turbine second in command time a lot of which was in a citation, 2000hrs dual given, 400 multi, total time was around 2500hrs. He has been instructing for 3 years and has just been waiting for the industry to start making a turnaround. They pay us pretty decent for flight instructors and he has a family to support. He didn't want to risk giving up a good job only to get furloughed. With his experience I imagine he was somewhat competitive.

It's crewroom gossip, guys. Don't get your panties in a bunch just yet.

Easy for someone to say that has yet to be whipsawed from St. George.

But yes, it is still a rumor, hopefully things work out well for all 3 carriers.

Eh, we've had the same rumors going on at ASA and it didn't happen. Rumors are rumors.

Which you stated in a later post. :-P

is it possible that Skywest is maybe posting those 500 slots publicly to be legal and then offering those slots in-house to the express jet furloughs? that would make some sort of sense I guess...I know they still have people in the hiring pool.

Eh, even stock price isn't that great of an indicator. 9E's stock has gone up based on "something being up" at least twice in the past two years. The only thing that happened was senior management sold their shares to make a bundle.

That and ASA doesn't have stock, its all wound into Skywests. So could be because of the expressjet thing.

Now here's a question. What happens to the shareholders of XJT? Will it just get turned into Skywest stock at 1:1 or will they get a "credit" towards Skywest stock?
