Well I disagree. Skywest is a much better regional to work for than the majority. Unless you had some internal rec, Skywest had much higher standards to get through than most. That's why there is a much higher percentage of guys here from EVERY other regional, than at anywhere else.
Um....doesn't that mean they already passed training somewhere else, meaning where they were hired before has about the same standards as Skywest? Sorry, that just doesn't make sense to say "Skywest has higher standards" then point out that guys that were already hired at other regionals (which by inference have lower standards) are now at Skywest.
Career expectations ARE different, thats why alot of guys gave up seniority at asa, etc. and now over here, or waited it out flying freight or cfi'ing a few extra years vs getting hired over the phone by Chuck to go and get bent over in bfe. The equipment may be the same, but the QOL is completely different. And since many of us will never be able to get to the top of the airline pyramid scheme, Skywest is a better place to get "stuck".
When we say "career expectations," we're talking about what's the highest you can attain at Skywest? That (currently) is a CRJ-900 CA. Curiously, that's the same as ASA, Pinnacle, Mesaba (or is that Pinnacle now?) and Comair. The only difference is the pay, really. QoL doesn't really factor into "career expectations." IMO, Skywest would NOT be a better place for me to get "stuck" since I'd be doing a cross country commute. Great QoL for the guy that lives in SLC is crap for the guy that lives in MCO. Kinda hard to do a blanket career expectations audit based on QoL when everyone's definition of QoL is unique to them.
