Jacksonville plane crash that hits home.

Skydivers' plane crash kills 1, hurts 5

I had just "worked" last week there and quit on Friday, 22 Oct (I was only there for a week). I will not try to second-guess what happened or answer any questions.

Pray for all the families involved.

An update on this crash...

I know the pilot...he was the "office manager" for the flight school where I was working and is a nice guy. Numerous people I have talked to said the a/c was at full power on takeoff. This is all I'll say for now until some of these rumors about what happened surface in an investigation.

The thing that pisses me off is the pilot was unconscious for a while and all he remembers is he was the pilot and they had an accident. He does not know the extent of the accident and the people around him still have not told him that somebody died in the crash. He still thinks everybody made it out of the accident okay.

The question is, would you rather know that somebody died and go through the grief, or have people "protect" you and not tell you that somebody died? I fully feel that this is absolutely the wrong thing to do to him but will not get into a debate with these people over the moral and ethical questions because they are all very strongly against telling him. Once they finally do tell him, he's going to be pretty messed up for quite a while, I would assume. He was friends with the gentleman killed in the crash, and will eventually figure out that he's not around any more.

There were 2 tandem jumps going up and already have lawsuits started. How would you like to be brought into a lawsuit not knowing the full extent of what happened?

Just curious on everybody's opinion...

Well I'm guessing he's in the hospital under doctor's care and with family so it's their call. At this point I don't know that how and when you break it to him is the overriding issue. Either way his life has changed. I hope he comes back from it.

At least the lawyers are on the case. Protecting humanity from any personal responsibility, once again.

Actually, he's been out at the airport again and trying to get "back on the saddle". I'm sure he's still under a Dr.'s care but he is up and about. They aren't letting him fly yet, which I think is good, but the other things they are doing is what I disagree with. The CP of the flight school is the one everybody is leaving the decision to (a female and they've had on on-again, off-again relationship).

Yes, lawyers are already trying to protect humanity from itself. Go figure.
