This sounds like a fundamental flaw of the union. Do the laws dictate this??

Some unions have more centralized control in the national structure, but pilots are Type A control freaks, so they refuse to let a national union have any control. It's the way they want it, so they have to accept both the pros and cons to local control.

Meh. I don't like regional chest-thumping.

Management here are done buying airlines, though. The experience has left SGU somewhat more sour.
