alex your the man ..thank you very much my friend !!! and one more question how hard were the brazilian law test you said there was a portion of tests at anac that I had to take that would be in portuguese. Am brazilian but I lived here for 20 years. I can speak , read a bit and my writing sucks lol ...

Pretty much everything will be in portuguese, from the psychological portion of the medical, law exam and fight ck.

Ciao!

BCTAv8r, do you live in Boca?

I flew there last SAT for dinner at the Cheese Cake Factory, I was in Florida for couple days, now I'm back in Rio.

Azul is based in Campinas SP.

I don't think any airline will look at your stuff unless you have a Brazilian License. With an FAA curriculum and a Brazilian license you are in a better position then most fresh CPLs here, most of them have between 150-200TT and the local standards are lower.

If you don't live in Brazil you need to get an ID and a CPF, then follow all the ANAC steps......once done apply.

Ciao!

Thanks Alex. I already have the CPF and ID. A buddy just went there a couple of months and got hired flying a lear. He said the Brazilian medical is a pain in the ass.

damn bro hey BCTAv8r... I work 5 mins from the cheesecake factory ..I live in deerfield beach though you probably heard of tivoli !!! lol later man

Yeah the first time you take the medical it's a pain, it's two days long (use to be 3 days). And there is lots of waiting, usually the place is crowded with FA taking a similar medical. If you have just a little problem they will not give you the medical, they even take a teeth panoramic x-ray!!!

I don't mind sitting around with a bunch of Brazilian FAs.;)

Do you know if they'll accept eye correction surgery (lasik, etc)?

Well there is 3 flight schools that I know in the state of Rio de Janeiro, in Brazil the flying portion of your training it's usually done in an Aeroclube and the ground portion at an other school which usually does not have planes, they just do ground.

For the ground school there is a school at Santos Dumont, I think they also have a plane but I never seen it flying. An other school in Marica Sky something I can't remember now, I will look it up.

For the flight training there is Aeroclube do Brasil, it's on the other side of the mountain ridge south of Rio, there is a bus from Copacabana that goes there http://www.aeroclubedobrasil.com.br/ , you will have also to take your Air law exam there. The flight school I like is in Marica, north of Rio: http://openlink.br.inter.net/marica/ it's in a really nice place and you can stay there in pousada for cheap, fly in the morning and go surfing in the afternoon.

Aircraft rates are a bit expensive in the state of Rio, if you go to Minas Gerais, Parana or Mato Grosso do Sul, rates go down a lot.

For basic training they use this: http://www.aero-boero.com.ar/

For instrument brazilian made pipers, like the turbo arrow, called corsico here.

Twins are expensive and usally pretty old Senecas and C310

thanks man ..am trying to look into everything so that when the time comes I have everything ready and I know were to go !!! vlw alex

No problem, if you are not doing a validation getting all the ratings will take a bit longer than in the USA, in Brazil you need 150TT for a CPL but ground school it's pretty long, CP and IR ground are done together, at S.Dumont class is 5 days a week for 5 months....The PPL training depends on the Aeroclube you choose to go, they use the Jepps books but the exam is in Portuguese.

Btw ANAC is sponsoring training, I think you need to have less then 40 hours and you can apply, they pay for everything it's not a loan.

I live in Brazil too, i'm work in gol airliners with f/o 737, the market is heated many contracts, purchases of new aircrafts, and it was necessary to lower the minimum requirements to find so many pilots at time! There are rumors of a virgin open a subsidiary in Brazil next year.....

This has been an interesting thread. I was under the impression that the employment situation was pretty bleak as a result of the whole VARIG deal. A friend of mine (ex VARIG) commutes to Korea from Sao Jose dos Campos! I was looking at the AZUL homepage and now here come the questions for those in the know...How long is the upgrade? What is captain pay? And are they pretty strict with the fast track FO times?
I have about 2200 hrs- 1000 in the EMB 145. Wife is Brazilian and we sometimes throw around the idea of moving to Brazil to be closer to her family.
Thanks to whoever responds.

BTW, any bases in Florianopolis (airlines or corporate)?

a friend of mine that works as a ticket agent for azul said they are opening a base in florianopolis next month I think !! that place is beautiful !!
