Sioux80.

I just got done doing a cross-country flight in N580ND. I did not do a run-up at any point during the flight. I did that for you, Thunder-Robo.

Here's the route. It was a good flight. The reason why the route doesn't show up well on the second leg is because most of that flight was operated in stealth mode. It's a new UND feature for the Seminoles.

When will they installed them in the Cessnas?

It is projected to be across the entire fleet by 2012. Also, UND was looking to install the EFVS (Enhanced Flight Vision System) on every aircraft, as well as fly-by-wire capability. The Citation II will have thrust vector control.

:rawk: I knew I picked the right school! :insane:

Me, too! As for the run-up situation, my instructor did it, instead. I was doing other things like setting up the GPS and radios and stuff. CRM is a big part of 325 (that, and I kinda forgot about it :))....

Where does it say in the PTS "how the runup is to be completed"....

I just want to be clear on that you're unsating students on "technique"....

We also have a standardization manual to follow for UND Stage Checks. The Checkrides are a bit different. I've never unsat a student for that. Now, not turning, no brakes, and almost rolling into the airplane in front of us, that I have unsat for.

Pretty sure thats unsat right out of the PTS, standardization maual aside.

If you want to talk about inconsiderate, I had a 102 doing night landings in GFK this summer and while we were in the pattern on short final (after tower was closed) some yahoo clicked the lights. Off.

Heres an easy way to prevent some jackhole from doing that to you on purpose.... click the lights on and then hold the PTT down until you are on the ground.... GA guys think its funny to click the lights off on us airline folks too....

I always thought we wanted to point the airplane in such a way as to allow for maximum engine cooling during high power/zero airspeed operation that is the runup, and as such that would be into the wind?

I think that was a little more relevant on older engines... not so much of a factor today - especially in North Dakota! But do I still do it? Yes. I'd say it's more important to make sure there isn't anyone/anything behind you that you are going to blast, and make sure you aren't pointed directly AT somebody else in the runup area as stated earlier. When it comes down to it, just be smart about it.
