Signature of Qualifications - Go or no go?

A person's opinions should stand or fall on the accuracy and facts, not on what airplane they strap themselves into or how many hours they have spent at cruise doing SUDUKO.

It was something Ian suggested a couple years ago. For a good period, alot of us were doing it. I dunno why it stopped or started. At the time, it seemed the conclusion was mixed, but alot of folks had started doing it. I am thinking I will stop as I like to go with the flow as much as possible. I was just curious on what others thought about it now.

Bring it back.

I try to put something unique to where I'm at or what I'm doing at the time, I don't remember what I had up before I have this sig.

The person asking the questions is asking because he does not know the facts. so he may not know if it's an accurate reply. A student pilot asking a question about airline flying would probably prefer to hear from an airline pilot, not a private pilot who knows a guy who knows a guy who is a friend of an airline pilot who told him what its like.

Bring it back.

I agree!

I originally made my sig a few years ago during the fad. I thought it was a good idea then and a good idea now. I was tired of mentioning my background to people over and over during discussions. Plus I'm not witty enough to put anything creative in my sig line.

maybe that's my problem too:eek:

Respectfully, I don't think so. There are very knowledgeable folks here that answer questions and are not airline pilots. And the airline folks are going to be knowledgeable about their equipment, 121, and their company. Most of the questions here are not airline related anyway, and I think the broader GA perspective is a big part of the value of this site.

Moral is - don't believe everything you read on the interwebs. I assume that everyone is a ms flightsim wannabe troll until they prove otherwise. It is pretty easy to tell who is full of it. I don't see a lot of bad information floating around here anyway.

:D I love it!

Very sound way of thought. I Agree.

Actually, I think the opposite is true. How are we supposed to discuss rest rules with a guy that has "A320" in their username when they're actually a bus driver? Am I supposed to asume they're a Redtail pilot? How would I know that he drives a bus other than having met him before?

Further, I'd say the great majority of questions here have to do with how folks get to jobs flying jet aircraft. This is JETcareers.com, after all, not studentpilot.com or flightinfo.com.

Well, I've met many/most of the frequent posters here.

I'm not actually a beagle (hell, the beagle isn't actually a beagle). No one thinks I am because of a username or avatar.

And maybe the poster is a bus driver (or a lawyer ;). Doesn't mean they aren't knowledgeable about the subject. If it is rest rules, guess what? Bus drivers have them too. Many of us have zero desire to fly for an airline, that's never made me feel unwelcome here. The "jet" careers may well be referring to freight, military, air taxi, corporate, private, whatever - I'm just guessing, but Dough didn't call the site "airlinecareers.com"

And the non-airline guys are more entertaining - they post about something other the the union politics/company politics/furloughs on occasion ;)

OMG, the site isn't catered to you!!! ZOMG. I know, lets just proclaim Jtrain correct every time, that's uber efficient and you don't have to be wasting any time listening to anyone.

I'm happy to have A320 here, bus driver, Bentley driver, hell I used to be a Saab driver. We are missing some nascar drivers though. It's all good.

Most of the people who post frequently have already at some point revealed who they are. For everyone else, you can check the profile. If they don't have time to fill that out, then I guess don't bother pulling your hair out over who they are. Ya dig?

Um, because he tells you. The dude has never tried to pass himself off as an A320 pilot, as far as I know. A320 can discuss union issues, rest issues, etc because he has some parallel experience. But since you only want heavy iron pilots here then when will you be departing for good?

Wow, just wow. Are you Velos spawn?

Why post qualifications when you can post Mitch fails.
jtrain609 do you work for Norfolk Southern Or BNSF?

ZOMG, listen gear monkey...ok that's all I've got.

Leave the monkey outa this! Hehe.

I hope A320 dude can tell us all how to get pensions back at our "career".

Anyhow, where is ppragman pat telling us how "they do" up in the crazy part of the world. Oh, there he is, I see's him above me.

Absolutely no idea. The last time I was in Altus it was 1996 I believe. I was only there for a few months in 94 (Basic 141) and airdrop in 96. I have no recollection of wind direction, or even stockyards actually.

Had the wind been out of the south you would have know it. The stock yards are just south of the base.
