I believe you, actually!—but I still find it somewhat funny.
I mean it would be funny if you or I did it...but if he is properly trained, certificated, etc., why not? The Defund-A-Rational-Society crowd complains mightily and at high volume about the Rozzers getting extra dosh in their off-time. Well, pick one. Either it's the Cops, or it's someone else.

I'd look quite goofy schlepping an AR-15 and body armor even if otherwise qualified to do so. Though not sure if I'd look any more goofy than I normally do, I dunno.

Incidentally, I'm not sure if I prefer AlliedBarton to the Seattle Police, but there are guards in force on Link now.

I hear you like cyberpunk dystopiae.
They make great games, but probably do not engender a wonderful world in which to live. That said, I'll take them to "The strong (or crazy) do what they can, and the weak suffer what they must" every day and twice on Sunday. *shrug*

Is this actually happening? Pretty much everywhere I’m aware of is spending more $$ on enforcement while cutting everything else (except maybe “I swear this one more lane will fix traffic bro” projects).
Well, hence the *ahem*. AFAICT, where I live, the lack of Law enforcement is a political decision, but I'm not fantasizing the lack, I assure you.

*shrug*. If the Law isn't being enforced due to *ahem* budget-cuts, I'm 100% in favor of the Private Sector being activated to Observe, Report, and occasionally ventilate.

I know, I know, "Fascism", etc. etc.

My guns are at home. Locked away. The rifles even have trigger-locks, in addition to being in a safe. I don't even take them out to "play" (because they're not toys) unless I'm going to the range. And I don't even particularly enjoy going to the range, anymore, due to all of the lunatics who fetishize firearms, and/or view them as a political statement, and who tend to congregate at gun ranges.

That said, the reality is that we live in an increasingly on-edge nation (probably world). My subjective sense is that we're a lot closer to rational, sane people needing to shoot someone than we were just 20 or even ten years ago.

So, that said, it makes a lot of sense to me for Oxman (or whoever has similar experience, skills, and sanity) to uh Monetize the aforementioned. Because the Cops, at least around here, seem to have pretty much given up. *more shrugging, extra shrugging*

At this point, I'd rather make my part time my full time, to be honest. I can't take the airline schedules anymore.
I know I sound like a broken record but have you hit up any of the job fairs over the last few weeks? People have been getting bites from all 3 majors.

I teach in a collegiate aviation program three days a week, both in the classroom and a simulator.

Hey, me too. We should start a support group.

OP, this is actually a pretty good one if you enjoy teaching and aren’t looking for a huge payday. I started when I was in the 135 world and they gave me as much work as I could handle (and then some). Since moving on to the 121s I’ve had to scale back to just a single online class, but I enjoy it and see it as a way to bring up others like people have done for me.

With the changes to the CTI program for ATC, they’ve asked me to join the ranks as an evaluator. Basically a DPE for ATC. There may end up being a barrier there for me because I left before finishing full certification, but really looking forward to it if it’ll work out.

Back in flight school, I also had a gig transcribing ATC audio and ATCSCC telcons. Paid great, took on as much or as little as I wanted, and if you can type fast it was good money. Took a little edge off of flight school loans.
