Shooting Aboard An AAL Flight . . .

hmmm interesting.. I thought you had to go thru TSA before you entered US airspace??? At least we do before coming back from being overseas (esp in Ireland)!! you'd think they'd have the same type of regs as they do in Ireland with Columbia being high on *that* list...

Apparently, shots were fired on an American flight in Miami. According to the folks jumping the gun on CNN, the shots were fired on the airplane . . . Flight 924 . . . ? Originated in Columbia?

Anybody know more?

I'm questioning the facts that they're passing. The reporter on the TV said that the plane was " . . . on the runway . . . " when shots were fired. Of course, we know that to non-aviation folks, on the runway could be anywhere from the ramp to the hold-short line.
:sitaware: Alert...:sitaware: Alert...

Caffeine beat you to it! hahaha

Same post, 2 posts down....gotta love it when someone actually points that out eh?! :p

As is almost always the case when a passenger flips out, it turns out he was (likely) on some kind of prescribed psychotropic drug. Travel and these types of drugs don't mix. People get off their med schedule, stress, alcohol, time zones, eating at odd hours, etc. and then they just flip out.

From MSNBC:

Mary Gardner, a passenger on the plane, told WTVJ the man started “running crazily through the aisle” after the plane landed in Miami. Gardner said a woman seated with the man ran after him, yelling that her husband was bipolar and had not taken his medication. Gardner described the woman as “hysterical.”

Too much speculation for me. :whatever:

I say 95% chance it's suicide by cop. Actually, 97.5%.

I'm going to agree that there is a chance for this to be the outcome. 44 year old US citizen isn't the typical modern suicide bomber. (ok Oklahoma I know but still...)

Using that same kinda thinking is what led to 9/11 when we were so arrogant to believe that we could never be attacked.
Also terrorist are smart they can't always only recruit one type more especially when there is a established profile. In order to continue to terrorize you gotta change things up and pull out the switches.

I'm inclinded to agree with you. But just don't like the thinking of there only being one "type" of a suspect. More especilly as it relates to terrorism.

Hrmm..keep up the arrogance like Mathew said.

What's your picture of a suicide bomber? Middle aged middle eastern male?

Why would you hope something like that?
Justify the program, prove to the general public that it's safe etc etc. DO a little good towards pushing that armed pilot bill along...

and I'm a sick individual.
