Seggy on Emirates!

Sir, you have little input. Few, if any, have taken anything you have said seriously. What have you done to make this profession better? I ask this in all seriousness.

I help those who have asked. I also help those interested in the career and are current PPL working on their instrument/commercial. I don't do union work (none here at the moment) and even if there is ALPA I'm not interested in doing that kind of work. How do I make this profession better? It starts with me, personally, to never vote yes to a concession. No matter what the circumstance. Period. I'll also not get somewhere and then pull the ladder up. Nor will I create false targets for ALPA to focus on (Emirates) when there are real issues here (regional and major ALPA pilots representing the complete opposite spectrum).

As for Seggy and ATN's comments on experience, keep in mind that these union guys were often on full time flying buy-out and flew very little. Experience in union business, sure, but when it comes to line flying their time was very limited. Not always the case but quite a few times guys like these would get disconnected from line flying.

You do realize I was a Check Airman at Colgan? You don't get that position if your line flying was 'limited'.

@amorris311 addresses everything else nicely.

Except it was Colgan. I'll take Cory Heiser's words for it in 'Flying Cheap.' The growing pains of 2005 and 2008 with the new Qs. Shortage of checkairman at the time and they were desperate. It doesn't sound like being a checkairman at Colgan in the timeframe you were there would have been a hard feat to pull off.

Interesting, were you ever a check airman at all?

Time-out y'all.

The thread may or may not be reopened.

If people can't hold a cogent, rational discussion like adults, I really don't have any interest in spending an inordinate amount of time playing "Hall Monitor".

People know the expected conduct on the website and if a person wouldn't show their penis to another person in my living room, they certainly should not do it on my website.

What did I miss!?

That's what I'm saying. What changes need to be made? Because this isn't airlines holding themselves back I wouldn't think. Sounds like they're playing on a different playing field, or being forced to. Gotta ID the problem in order to find the solution. I'm curious what's causing the problem.

People are getting too worked up, and the crap is flowing in all ways. To moderate one, I'd have to do so all around. No need for Mutually Assured Destruction. What I have are people doing crap, then reporting/complaining that someone is doing the same thing back. Cease and desist all. It's that easy.

It's not what you say Todd, it's how you present sometimes. And namecalling the mod staff isn't good technique, for starters.

I could give a rats ass about feelings. What I do care about is keeping things relatively civil. And your livelihood is just fine in terms of here on JC.......no internet opinion(s) are going to have any effect on that. Just like your viewpoint isn't going to affect someone with a viewpoint counter to that or affect their livelihood. I see how an opinion can bother you or your opinion bother others, but none of that has any effect on anything. It's all ascii characters at the end of the day.
Here is the response to everybody throwing punches at each other
