"See you next time..."

Where I work we probably have a couple of thousand "regulars", and the only ones I would really remember were the US Airways guys before the merger... We'd have 500 generic pilot voices in a flow, then those guys...

"Heyy y'all Caaaactus seven.... Forrrrrty wun, we're here at flight level THREE five ZEEERO, how y'all doin' tonight?"

There still there, but it's not the same anymore

Bingo! Every. Single. One. Haha. Flew around Houston for 3 months doing some survey work and I swear the same guy was on every United flight.
Funny thing is, United pilots have always sounded the same since before the merger, but the Continental guys never did sound the same...now they all sound alike.

@Cal Goat seems to be able to pick out my voice whenever we're in the same sky. (I try to sound bored.)

Also, I wish I understood SSEEEEEEEEEEEYUHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH :rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

Last couple weeks I've had good opportunity to reflect on what is heard on Center down south (crossing half the country at 150 knots will do that). I was actually pleasantly surprised at the minimal level of idiocy I heard. Of course I wasn't monitoring guard...

I'm almost convinced SJI awards remedial training for failure to monitor GUARD.

Heck, someone could be declaring an actual emergency on guard and the guard nazi's would be all over them.

Could be? I've heard exactly that. I was flying across Texas and heard a 172 declare an emergency on guard with an engine failure. An AA flight came on asking questions about where they were, plan, etc to pass on to ATC. Some voice comes over "Yeeerrr on guaaarddddddddd." That AA pilot gave such an amazing tongue lashing, it was great!

EDIT: Oh, the 172 ended up landing in a field with no injuries.

Heard just the other day someone come on guard, with a mayday saying they were lost, and the first response was yer on guard

I heard last week some SkyWest pilot trying to coordinate parking and requested services on Guard. Someone else replied that SkyWest would have to park at one of the extra spots away from the terminal. Then someone else told SkyWest he was on the Guard frequency to which someone else said he wasn't and that the ground crews have the request but SkyWest would have to wait a while at the spot.
It was all very devious.

A switch from approach to tower ... knowing that we are likely only on the ground for 20-25 minutes ... (on a good day for a behind schedule round-trip) I'll absolutely tell the approach controller "talk to you on our way out..." as is mostly the case at the smaller Class C facilities (same same working approach/departure).

Peace out!
