Second SkyWest pay package offer sent for membership ratification

How much, if at all, is this better than the last one?

I understand mgmt wants to up 1st year pay, but why waste all of the money on that? It'll help attract new hires, but pilots don't want all of the resources going there unless there is some sort of signing bonus or retro pay.

We aren't having any trouble filling classes either. That may change in the future though.

Not without a real union, I wouldn't.
I've been at a place with a 'real union' still doesn't mean you aren't going to get crapped on. I think the only benefits of the union are they will go to bat for you if there is an issue with an event that happened to you.

are there any concessions? seems like a decent deal with the pro's that were posted

Well...

Yup. In fact my life here is considerably nicer than it would have been at Envoy with ALPA representation...so...

It's possible to be pro-SkyWest -and- pro-union, I don't understand why everyone thinks these things are exclusive.

That's an interesting statement. "This is way better than that thing I didn't do!" I'm glad you're happy. I have simply seen too much and I can't imagine my life without (real)representation. Good luck on the vote, or whatever it is.

SKW wasn't taken out back and beaten with a leather strap like envoy was, that may have been the point he was making.

Except both him and I flew for Eagle for a couple years. So the whole "that thing I didn't do!" has no value. Life is much better here. That absolutely does not mean we don't want a union on property.

I like money.
Yes - and that's why this slightly curmudgeonly FO (possibly, soon-to-sit-on-the-left) is going to vote yes, even though he thinks he's worth more, he'll still take the money, the rules, and run with it.

It's a raise. The rules intrigue me (I can do a lot with one extra day off a month, too, in terms of stalking open time and taking advantage of the incentives presented for when we're below min staffing and let's face it we always are so the hell with it and if you can't figure out how to make money when we are short then you're a dullard!), the profit sharing is instant change, the most offensive language re: 401(k) vesting is gone as is the escape clause, and...well, it gets the likes of @JordanD out of poverty, and that's worth something to me, since he might have to sling my gear (sorry in advance my friend), and I want him rested and fed to keep me from effing it all up.

So yeah. I'll take it.

He knew the job was dangerous when he took it. 8). @JustinS is on the same pay rate, why no love for him or me as well???

If got bills to pay too you know.

But I like days off. 8)
E-Jet mafia. :sarcasm:

But in all seriousness: It's long past time someone did something about first year pay. We sit and complain about it plenty and tend to do "nothing" about it. Welp, time to do something about it. (Last time wasn't enough for The Rest Of Us™, but this time, I think it is)

I agree but if you look we will make more with -700/900 flying as FO in the 2+ year then the 175. And we get better travel benefits. More should be done.
