Negotiating Update- July 13, 2015

The rep approval vote concluded a few hours ago. Your SAPA reps voted 17-2 in favor of approving the pay proposal for a pilot wide ratification vote.

We will spend tomorrow finishing up some supporting materials and preparing the pay information for distribution. We anticipate releasing the agreement to you this Wednesday, 7-15.

We will also be working on a conference call schedule to assist in the education process.

Please watch for updates on the SAPA site and in your SWOL email over the coming days.

Respectfully,

Kirk Peterson

SAPA Negotiating Committee Chair

As stated, we should see the details on Wednesday. I don't actually have any good "rumots" about this one, as I've been goofing off on the beach instead of paying attention. Stand by for details...

Rumors. 1st year pay increase (company REALLY wants that). MDG increase. New trip rig. Profit sharing. Pay raises (don't know how much). Some other stuff not worth posting until the details come out.

It's a dog and pony show. Student council if you will. It makes some, not all, of the delusional pilots there think they have some kind of say in the matter. Great group of pilots but they should have passed ALPA back in 2005.
The SAPA prez is leaving. He was hired at Delta, but has only said "I want to return to line flying." He's not letting the cat out of the bag yet. For his replacement, I voted for the guy that doesn't have much time left and wants to disband SAPA and get a union in. I've done "my part" until the next Union drive. ;)

Forgive me, but with no union, why the membership ratification?
It's worked so far. They didn't force the last proposal down our throats. And renegotiated pretty quick. It's better than the last proposal, but not much better. For a regional though, I can't complain about what's coming. I'm not delusional and expecting them to offer us Delta's 8% pay RATE raise.

And in all honesty, this proposal, if passed, will give other regionals some things to strive for in future negotiations.

What's the timeline for the voting on this? QX's management team is going to be trying to negotiate something with us that would make a bid for more flying competitive with a theoretical SkyWest bid. Anything you can do in short order to make yourselves more expensive would be appreciated.

Here to help. After all, we are getting rid of all the 700s we have flying for Alaska. ;)

Not without a real union, I wouldn't.
It's not a bad place to work. There's things going on behind the scenes towards a union. It's not to the point of a full fledged union vote, but there is a slight movement. We are getting reps in that want a union over the student council. It's the senior work force that needs to be convinced. They are EXTREMELY gung-ho pro company (which is fine, whatever, but it's to the point they want to kiss ass on the forums and in public in case the black helicopters are listening - they can't move on from SKW and NEED this place to survive. They think they'll have some sort of job protection by brown nosing management). I can almost guarantee that, if this TA (I know it's not really a TA) passes, first year pay will go to $36+ in a few months. (My guess, if this passes, is first year will increase in October)

*I am not a SAPA rep. This is all conjecture based on a hypothetical that is based on the last "TA" presented to us. I have no inside knowledge. I will know tomorrow or Thursday when they make the info public.

It will be interesting to see how the SkyWest proposal compares to the one just offered by XJT management.

Well...

Yup. In fact my life here is considerably nicer than it would have been at Envoy with ALPA representation...so...

It's possible to be pro-SkyWest -and- pro-union, I don't understand why everyone thinks these things are exclusive.
