Seaport Airlines hiring 500hr mins

I just applied yesterday, and fully intend not to hear anything back, since my hours are below 500. So, this training contract. Do you have to pay the $7,500 if you quit before 6 months or are you actually paying for your training?

You pay what's owed on your training contract if you leave within a year from the date you start flight training. If you leave before 6 months, you owe the entire 7500. After 6 months, it is a prorated amount for each month past 6 that you stay.

Gotcha, thanks for the explanation!

Has anyone that forwarded a resume heard anything back from SeaPort recently? I received a call today for an interview at MEM.

Just over a month until I unexpectedly received a call with "follow up questions," then followed by an email confirmation for interview selection times.

When are you interviewing in MEM? I'm heading down that way also next weekend.

For those wondering,

Applied back and Jan with ~500 advertised hours and was offered an interview but had to turn it down due to commitments to my students where I was CFIing. Got another call to interview in May but couldn't make it down while trying to fly standby. Just updated my resumé with the HR department this past thursday and was offered interview dates the very next day.

They're holding interviews at their 3 bases late Aug to early Sept, for a late Sept early Oct class perhaps, can anyone confirm?

Does anyone know if they'll pay for travel to ground school?

Also, does everyone that makes it thru ground school get picked up for flight training right away?

From what a few friends and colleagues have told me, it's a great place to work. CASS doesn't hurt either.

HaHa this is funny 500 hours, I am a agriculture pilot and applied with them when I had over 6000 hrs and they offered me a standby position.
so I had to stick with 100K plus job spraying crops, damn. I actually wanted to try the airline type flying but all my single engine turbine time just wasn't enough to fly their single engine turbine planes.

I'm guessing it had nothing to do with your logbook.

With 6,000TT why would you leave a flying job that pays $100k+ for this?

Exactly why they would offer you standby, you're full of crap.

Yep you're right I'm full of crap. retired from the military and now I actually have about 7000 hrs since I applied with this place. I said in my post I wanted to try the airline flying if possible as a change of pace. I'm sure you understand agriculture flying daylight until dark 7 days a week since you know how full of it I am. If you want my resume and my 21 years in the military dd-214s hell let me know how I can send you a copy. currently I am flying a Air Tractor 502 in south florida with a PW-34 power plant and before that I was flying in Arkansas. I was also a SEAT pilot on fires certified type 4 with the BLM attended the school for that in Boise ID and the practical flying in Safford AZ. I can continue if you want me too, probably making this crap up too.

Why not apply to Delta or another legacy carrier? Money is going to be a lot better there than at some commuter airline. Especially since you got military experience. I think your under selling yourself...

I don't think he's saying he was a military pilot...

How much multi time do you have? Did you fly for the military? There are plenty of better 'airline flying' jobs out there for someone with 7,000 hours. Unless all 7,000 is single engine piston, you should have no problem landing a better job than SeaPort.

My guess is he's trolling.

My guess is your "7,000 single engine piston" is right on the nose. Not a troll IMHO.

I don't think all that 7000hrs is single engine piston time. He stated that he fly's an Air Tractor 502B with a Pratt and Whitney PT6-34 turbine on the front. Very popular turbine ag plane. Also SEAT (Single Engine Air Tanker) flying is done in turbine firefighting versions of at planes.

I'm in the same boat and its my biggest fear that none of my single engine PIC turbine time will not be a big plus if I move over to another type of flying career. Aerial application pilot/spray pilot is great for making lots of money but that's about it.QOL really sucks. I can almost taste the regionals. LOL.So close but so far.
