Seaport Airlines hiring 500hr mins

What? Why?
Because I want to retire early and fly for a living vs sit in a large machine shop working with no windows on a computer on second shift. I have a house payment so can't just go to Alaska or the east coast for a entry level pilot job they are local to me. I just want to fly...

That's good that you want to fly but plenty of other good options than a depleting company. I take this as red flags. Not sure how others take it....who even knows if they can afford to hire anyways?

Look into AMERIFLIGHT FO positions (call the recruiter and find out if they will get you PDX, they will work with you from what I hear.

Also take a look at Empire Airlines. I think they have NW bases in or nearby your city.

Application submitted in October still no word with 804 total time, 182 x-country, 106 instrument, inst current, etc...
Hageland lowered their sled mins to 1,000 hours. You could get 200 hours very shortly here at the right base. Plenty of guys here on their second career.

I applied for the most recent FO requisition a couple of weeks ago on January 14th

http://ameriflight.hrmdirect.com/employment/view.php?req=334004

They are looking for 50 hrs twin and I have 44 right now. I have been trying to get those remaining 6 hours but the weather has not been cooperative. Last time I met with instructor it was snowing.

We are having the NW Aviation conference career forum Feb 19 in Puyallup WA and AMERIFLIGHT is scheduled to be there hoping to meet them there unless you have a number for a recruiter?

Just looked at Empire Airlines their site says:
ATR First Officer Requirements:
  • ATP certificate with MEL
  • 2nd class medical.

Thanks

  1. CALL AMF recruiter! Trust me! TALK to them. You need to more than just apply with AMF. CALL, and TALK to one of their Recruiters. Call ASAP! Plenty of low time pilots want that position & will apply online just like you. Call & start talking to them ASAP! If you only apply online you probably will not get a call. AMF is not thirsty for EMB-FO as much as Part 135-PIC IFR mins CAPT's. Again CALL, TALK, tell them what is going on & what your trying to accomplish & why! Let them know ur name! It will help when there is a spot to fill you will get called right away since they've spoken to you. CALL & TALK.

2nd... EMPIRE from what I've heard, read, & learned, mostly upgrades from within into the ATR FO. They have a bunch of Van drivers & upgrade to ATR FO's or something like that. Plenty of Empire FO's are trying to get into the ATR. You'll have to get in line.No skipping into ATR FO, (Look at the requirement & remember that this day & age, most pilots who already have ab ATP will not settle for ATR FO position).

P.s. A lesson to learn abt aviation.... most companies post minimums, to be hired, yet the majority of the posted mins are not "Hard Mins." Infact, most companies are flexible. Some are not. But many are hungry for pilots & some are flexible on posted mins, as long as your near enough, they'll sched and interview & class date for a future date. This occurs quite often! If your hrs are way off & you have connections, all that's needed is a big wigs approval (as long as its not a FAR's violation & hard insurance policy violation). Happens often also.

CALL & TALK...

Sadly I missed his call but he left a voice mail saying to let him know what time I would be available tomorrow or Thursday for a 45 minute phone screen.

Now must google Ameriflight phone inteview gouge

Good luck! I did a phone screen with them a few years ago and I remember just answering basic questions about my flight times, flying background, etc. No technical questions, but it might have changed.

Chatted with David today.
Reviewed my totals. Asked about any arrests and accident history. Any FAA enforcements in the past or pending. Discussed my work history. What I like best about my current job what I like least. Asked about takeoff alternate requirements from FAR 135 which I don't know about and when alternate is required for part 135. Was a bit sketchy on that as well. Describe engine of plane I currently fly. you are at 10,000 ft and want to descend to 1000 ft how long would it take no airspeed given. Anyone heard of the 3 to 1 rule for descents? Describe something that happened in flight that scared you and what did you do. You are flying due north with a thunderstorm dead ahead on your course do you continue or alter course. Which way do you alter course and why. One I am a little mad at myself if static port becomes blocked which instruments are effected. I said altimeter and VSI but forgot Airspeed also gurrr but we will see what they think. Also asked how I have accumulated my hours. Mostly I have paid to rent planes either with or without instructors is that a bad thing?

I said I am after in May as I have a big trip then. He said the next starting class of FO's is primarily going to be assigned to the eastern US I believe he said MIA. But maybe they will be looking to other home bases later on.

I still have my day job anyway so no matter what just keep on flying

Good luck to you all

Do you mean Memphis? K5 doesn't have any operations nor are they scheduled to have any operations out of Miami in the foreseeable future.

I was discussing my phone interview with Ameriflight they currently have an opening for FO EMB-120 based at PHX, BFI, CVG, DFW, BQN, or MIA he said the current class is slated for east coast assignments and mention MIA specifically

Not familiar with K5

Ok just googled K5 = Seaport
They are only flying Portland, Northbend, Pendelton routes. And Memphis, Harrison, Hot Springs, El Dorado, Houston that's it

Oh, you were referring to MEM in regards to an Ameriflight interview. I assumed you were talking about Seaport since that's the thread topic. Makes sense now.
