s. florida - miami area - 1000TT....pt91/cargo/any

Its terrible, but Miami is pretty dry for jobs right now. Most of the flight schools (including mine), are bare. Theres a lot of cargo outfits and whatever but even smaller ones with Caravans and Kingairs want at least 2000TT with some turbine and time in type depending upon what you are flying.

I want to get in with AE also but your really need at least 1500TT and 100 multi PIC to be competitive. On the positive I heard there last class was mostly CFIs and they didn't want any furloughed region pilots that would jump ship as soon as they're previous employer called back.

Miami Air is pretty awesome and I'd love to get on with them too but if they're hiring right now you pretty much need some 737 time or at least 3000 hours (thats what they wanted about a year and a half ago when I talked to their chief pilot)

Anyways I've been down here for awhile now and I'm kind of stuck here because of $$$$$$ and lack of jobs. My advise is stay in TX it looks like theres more jobs there right now and make moving to MIA your goal once you hit say 2500TT and an employer invites you in to interview...

appreciate the perspective. yeah i mean i have the option to return to this gig again next fall, and everyone is looking to move on, but theres nothing to move on to so.....

thanks for the info 3engine! ill check out bimini island air....

Based on somethings you have posted on here, you would hate a job doing nothing but island runs. It is the same thing over and over again. VFR 99% of the time and nothing to see but water.

thats a possibility, but QOL of living in a place that i find appealing, and nice weather and things to do when im not working... *could* tip the scale in a favorable direction. work to live, not live to work...

i am also finding that 99% of aviation is the same thing over and over again. ;-)

I just called and faxed over my resume they HR lady seemed very nice (sorry I can't remember her name). They said the Chief pilot left early today and will be looking over the resume over the next week or so, She said it will probably be at least a week until anyone heres back.
