From what I heard, CAL Mike is entirely separate operation from CAL, down to the aircraft and employees. Only the pilots are on the common list. It'd be easy to spin off it if this was the case.

That is true. The corporate structure is very similar to that of a wholly-owned regional with a single seniority list. If CAL Mic is for sale then CALALPA's merger and fragmentation language would take effect. But, that is only about 120 pilots.
