RUMINT - UAL to charge ID-90s for offline Jumpseaters

The fee difference is due to the priority on your own A/C. It is what SkyWest negotiated for you, and you have to pay for it.

Your statement sounds quite stern.

Was that the projection you were looking for?

I was merely providing the correct fee data for a DCI company.

And actually, I don't have to pay it. 1) I'm not a commuter, and 2) If I want to jumpseat somewhere, I'll do my best to do it on either my own company's aircraft, or 3) on a non-DCI company, and 4) I'll stay away from United (and United Express).

It is $50 a year for your entire family to Non-rev. One trip in first class under the old NWA system would cost the same. I think it is a pretty good deal.

Wasn't talking about non-revving. I was talking about jumpseating. Yeah, it's a good deal if you're non-revving with your family. If you're a single guy or just use jumpseat privileges it sucks. You get a better deal going with OTHER airlines than your own. I'm sure pretty much every single pilot at Pinnacle would disagree with you since they lost their buddy passes and parents now travel on some convoluted booking system on ZED high.

The trick is actually getting ON a flight with your family. Right now, with loads the way they are, I'd be hard pressed to get on a flight with my wife and kid. Especially since our boarding priority is slightly above non-DCI carriers now. According to the new pass benes, a more senior mainline guy and his family could bump me off my own Pinnacle flight.

The thread has sort of derailed but what most have tried to convey on here, is the "pay to play" in order to dead head on several airlines. Delta and DCI pilots have to pay their yearly fee inorder to jumpseat when there are seats available in the back. United is charging all jumpseaters no matter what airline you work for. If you are a Delta pilot jumpseating on UA, and there are seat in the back; they are going to make you get an ID90 in order to jumpseat in the back. It's managment f'n with a union negotiated benefit inorder to make a few bucks.

Not sure if I've got what you're saying right, but DL pilots do not have to pay for their own jumpseats. Non-reving and jumpseating are two different things, DL pilots have to pay the yearly fee to have their non-rev privileges, but they do not have to pay to be a jumpseater (on a DL flight).

I could be mistaking what you're saying though, cause it's kind of early and I haven't had enough caffeine yet.

Mainline pilots can flow back to the cabin with no penalty. DCI pilots cannot flow back to the cabin unless they have paid their yearly TravelNet fee.

Just to clarify, I don't think this includes UAX jumpseats. At Skywest at least we're not doing it from what I heard.

So has United start charging for jumpseats already? Or is this something thats just in the works for now?

I was on them today and they sure didn't. The Captain had no clue what I was talking about when I asked him about it.
