Royal Air Cargo Aircraft Down Outside of Chicago

CRAP CRAP CRAP. We've been flying alongside that crew in and out of Mexico all the way up to the north. RIP fellow freightdogs.:(

PWK is my home base and I fly out of there a lot- felt pretty bad all day today after hearing about it around 3 or so.
Drove by the desplaines river shortly after and the police had the road blocked off on Lake St between Milwaukee Av and River Road.
The accident happened just after turning from right base to final shortly after they have been given landing clearance on runway 34. Radar showed them flying 060 on short final for a bit[possible overshoot] between 500 and 600AGL before going down. I'm thinking they either overshot@stalled it during the turn to final or got more icing then they expected on the descent.[the ceiling was 023ovc]Maybe tailplane icing too? Who knows?
Quite possibly- the pilot's may have decided to aim for the river also instead of some houses nearby- the outcome could have been even worse!

RIP fellow pilots

PIREP:

Flying a few miles north of the accident, I found the broken/overcast layer was about 200 ft thick and breaking up around the time the airplane went down. Clear above. Visibility was excellent both above and below the clouds. The tops were flat at around 3600' as far east as I could see (probably at least halfway across the lake) and the bases appeared to be lower in that direction. Take that for what it's worth.

Anyone have the name of the pilots? I have an old buddy that's been flying with them lately.

I haven't checked Jetgirls.net yet, but apparently one of the deceased is husband of one of the forum members.
