Flight 9859...which, as of this writing, at least, is still the final 747 revenue flight operated by a US carrier.
The final United 747 had to do a gate return for MX.
It helps to read the article first. Carry on...Not sure if it did a gate return or just needed to get something MEL'd after push.
Regardless, different than canceling the flight.

Sorry, I wasn't clear on that. I had written a response without reading the article. I then corrected myself with that reply.
Yeah the Chicago Airport Police screwed up big time there.
Yeah, kinda like Georgia Power and the Atlanta Airport Authority did Sunday afternoon.
Seggy tried to troll but started a dumpster fire, DOH!![]()
Not sure what that has to do with this thread.
What you and the points guy don’t seem to know is that there were a lot of pilots who didn’t show up at other hubs for their flights because of what happened in Atlanta.
The pilot sicks out, and there is no short call reserve available, scheds goes fishing with a GS. Flight may be delayed, but it’ll be covered. Until they have bigger issues. Granted, why was there no short call coverage. Maybe both the original and reserve pilot sicked out. Or the reserve pilot thought he wouldn’t be used, so stayed home in wherever. It happens, even at United.
