Republic's new interview mins

Looks like they dropped their mins to interview to 1200tt, 75 instrument, 50 multi. If successful, you'll be offered a class date upon reaching ATP mins. Seems like a smart move to me. I wonder if other regionals will follow suit?

For those who are building time and want to get a "foot in the door" it seems like a great option. You are not under contract to accept the class date, but you would at least have a job in the bag the day you hit the mins!

I think it is a great option for some folks!

Has anyone got a call in the last few weeks? I applied awhile ago and haven't heard anything. I meet the actual hiring minimums.

Yes, captain I'm flying with got called last week. I'm just over 1000 and will be getting my ATP the old fashioned way. Hopefully I can get a call to interview at 1200. I'm flying 110-115hrs a month at my part 135 airline now so it shouldn't be more than a couples months from 1200 to 1500. I'm sure there is a limit on how long you have to get there.

What are most new hires getting? Q, 170? Doesn't matter either way to me.

So just why do you imagine that Shureptaqua is doing this first? Because the future is wine and roses with a rapid upgrade? Cause, see, I've got this bridge in Brooklyn...
They can't find anyone with 1500 most likely. More incentive. If anything it's good interview practice. I'm sure others will follow! Hang on tight!

They'll call you first for a 145 or Q class and tell you that you should really take it because of seniority. But if you hold out you can get the mainline aircraft a few weeks later.

I guess with all the new 170s they are getting most would get that. I'd actually want to Q in DEN but I hear that's unattainable at the moment. 145s pretty staffed up?

I took the Q. There is a lot of folks getting hired by years end, so if you don't mind the aircraft, it does mean a lot to get the seniority NOW! At this rate of new hires, you can be 100 people down the list in a little over a month.

If you don't want the 2yr contract, the Q is also a great opportunity. If any of you guys are looking at this opportunity, send me a message. I am happy to answer any questions I can, and if there is anything I can do to help you prepare, I will do so....

most are getting the Q at about 3:1 compared to the 170. They are absolutely in need for FO's on the Q side, CA are being told to bid FO's in EWR to cover, they get Captain pay from the right seat.

the new 175's are coming online next month at a (supposed) rate of 2 a month, they need pilots but are not killing for them like the Q.

as stated above, you can lose out on a whole bunch of seniority by waiting, I missed my first interview date 1.5 years ago and had to reschedule after one week, this made me miss 3 classes and 35 # of seniority.

FWIW: couple months ago a new hire class on the Q was suppose to take place and 0 out of 18 showed up. Apparently most were promised a 170 and then 2 days before got called informing them that they were on the Q now. The company does this a lot! So heads up if you have accepted based on type...they can and will switch it on you.

What are the junior Q bases? Any chance of Denver? How are the trips?

bases are DEN, MCI, PIT, EWR

Probably no chance of DEN out of class and just a guess, but it will take you a while to get there. (again just a guess since a lot of guys went to the Q just to get the DEN base)

99% of DEN trips are out and backs, albeit to bad ass locations (vail, steamboat, durango) but also to KC and OKC

not sure about the other bases but I know there is a larger route structure out east.

I figured as much. My plan is to move to Denver after this current gig/reach ATP mins. I'm trying to get on with a company that has a Denver base or somewhere relatively close. I wonder how the commute to IND or CMH is? Those trips are probably pretty uncommutable?

commuting to IND or CMH is not easy at all, but doable. LGA and ATL I hear are easier. Going ORD is suicidal...

most trips out of IND are non-commutable not sure for other bases
