Republic Airlines (YX, Chicago O'Hare) parent, Republic Airways Holdings, will place the fifty EMB-175s awarded to it by United Airlines (UA, Chicago O'Hare) in September last year with Shuttle America (S5, Fort Wayne) and not Republic as previously announced.

In an internal memo to employees, management said that while the company would like to consolidate all operations into a single Republic Airlines certificate eventually, the Shuttle America certificate offered "the greatest flexibility and opportunity" to crews for this type of flying. Shuttle America last year absorbed sister carrier Chautauqua Airlines (RP, Indianapolis Int'l) as part of the process.

Didn't see this posted anywhere, good news for S5.

Forgot they merged them, I wonder what the point is then.

I think it'll help with employee retention. A lot of junior Shuttle FOs were claiming they would quit if all of those planes went to the Republic side because they'd basically be the plug in their bases until upgrade.

....this isn't really news...

first it's one list

second it just help offset the parking of the 145's and the Q's...I think it's a net gain of around 4-8 airlines. They're latest bid came out and they need 70 FO's....yes 70! Life is miserable as an FO...6-8 year upgrade right now

That's why I left and took the CQFO position and am just waiting for IOE to start

Ha yup, I left last month as well... Life at CHQ was getting worse every day. But I'm glad the CHQ guys finally have something to look forward to as the rumor mill was the new planes were going to the YX side...

Doesn't matter for a CHQ pilot. They could bid on it either way. I could see someone who is currently at Republic and desperately wants better QOL being really pissed but beyond that, any FO can bid it and the plan is merge Republic and Shuttle, anyway.

Well ya YX and S5 will merge, but CHQ is now S5. 145s are getting parked, schedules are getting worse month by month (I had a 13hr 4 day in JAN) and the bases becoming less commutable. The rumor mill was that S5 was going to lose ALL the United 175's to the YX side, leaving only Delta flying. Hence less planes and less bases for the remainder of what would have been if it worked out that way. Who knows when S5 will merge into YX. S5 keeping the United side, and the potential for new bases has a lot of CHQ guys hopes for better times, (finally). I literally left S5 (CHQ 145) 2 weeks ago, and that was a feeling among many there.

Because you have asked for my opinion:
I'm torn. Im a little closer to upgrade (single list so non-sequitur) but my base seniority will be raised considerably.

However I have an ace up my sleeve and may never see a UAL175. (Other than Skywest's one that is giving me a ride tomorrow)
