Republic Airlines (YX, Chicago O'Hare) parent, Republic Airways Holdings, will place the fifty EMB-175s awarded to it by United Airlines (UA, Chicago O'Hare) in September last year with Shuttle America (S5, Fort Wayne) and not Republic as previously announced.
In an internal memo to employees, management said that while the company would like to consolidate all operations into a single Republic Airlines certificate eventually, the Shuttle America certificate offered "the greatest flexibility and opportunity" to crews for this type of flying. Shuttle America last year absorbed sister carrier Chautauqua Airlines (RP, Indianapolis Int'l) as part of the process.
