Republic Recruiting Event: Attend?

Like @Nark said, I might feel more compelled to go if I had a lot more time in the logbook. It's a drive out to HEF, I live in DC and I'm going to be out in the vicinity of JYO most of the day so it's kind of a time-value thing.

I still haven't decided if 121 is for me, and having data certainly helps, even if it's a soda-straw view through the eyes of a recruiter. The good news is that I'm a sales guy and I know when I'm getting a pitch.

And I have you guys, which is the greatest Aviation BS Detector I've ever seen....

Are you a sales guy who likes sales? If so, 121 is not for you. The personality type of a good salesman is not conducive to happiness in jobs that are hours upon hour of sitting and not doing much or accomplishing much of anything. You’d be better off in a flying job that’s something different every day.

Will I be able to listen to podcasts and read a book at least???

What kind of flying would you recommend?

- From a sales guy

Pilots aren't a cookie cutter psychology type. WE fly because WE like the ability to fly. I don't fly because of the social benefit, although there is one if you can find it. There are all sorts of tangible benefits, as you can see the lot of us have difference experiences.

There is plenty of variety in 121 flying. As an RJ guy I spent time in Canada and all over the US. As a major guy now, I fly all over North and South America. Which adds to the social, should I chose to engage the passengers.
