US airline group Republic Airlines has signed a letter of intent to buy 24 more Embraer 190 jets in a deal valued at $960 million signed today at the Farnborough Air Show.

Under the agreement Republic will begin taking delivery of the first six E-190s in the first half of next year. The Republic group is the largest E-Jets operator with 145 in its fleet including 76 Embraer 170s, 54 Embraer 175s and 15 Embraer 190s.

"This new agreement confirms our commitment to the E-Jet family," says Republic Airways Holdings chief executive Bryan Bedford. "We chose them again because passenger comfort, mission performance - especially in hot and high markets like Denver - and compelling economics are hallmarks of the E-Jet product line."

Bedford adds the airline has flexibility through conversion rights to the Embraer 195 in a 116-seat single class configuration.

Flame away...

No flaming here. I'm sure the payrates and work rules will eventually catch up. Just a matter of when.

I had hoped Bedford would have seen the light about Airbii, but it doesn't look like that is going to happen right now.

6 new 320's coming in January. What's even trickier is the planned C-Series purchases. Out of my paygrade..

:dunno:

Much like BobDuck said hopefully the contract will eventually be settled. Rates like Jetblue (or close to) will be settled on... Serious question though are these additional aircraft for the F9 flying or replacements to the Bus/e145s??? Also any knowledge as to which certificate if he makes them E195s??? Republic or F9??

Either way best of luck!!!

You'd have to read the scope clause of each airlines CBA at this point, that would give you a clue to who is flying them.

However, once the SLI is done and active, it will become a non-issue if the current RAH scope stands.

The one in which a Republic Holdings Aircraft must be flown by a Republic Pilot? Just making sure I follow....

The paraphrase is this: Any entity controlled by Holdings will use pilots from the Master Seniority List and the common CBA.

Basically, once there is a master seniority list from the integration and that list is deemed active (probably when a common CBA is reached), then the pilots for any aircraft they get, be it the E135 up to the Frontier planes will be flown by pilots off the one list. Just an extension of what is going on now with CHQ, S5 and RW.

One contract, One list.

Thanks for making that clear! :)

Good luck RAH guys. Here is to a fair SLI and a awesome contract. You should just suggest the current F9 rates across the board for 190s and above:p

I'll lay my bet for Fall of 2015. *le sigh*

I'd hope a union carrier could get rates above Jet Blues, but I'm not a contract expert.

This is most likely not 24 growth airframes to the branded side. These will probably go to replace the DH8-4 and E170 flying. Im assuming the 170 will be downsized to just a few airframes. 190 is just more bang for almost the same buck. My WAG is a net growth of about 5 airframes on this.

One would hope so. RAH made the same mistakes Mesa negotiators did, accepting sucky FO pay and dubious reserve rules because "you'll hold a line in a month and upgrade in a year anyway!"

Does the cost of operating a different type (D8) really exceed the fuel savings these aircraft present on the short to medium routes?
I used to jumpseat on shuttle America all the time, and damn those 170s are comfy. I wouldn't be surprised if you kept them and tried to leverage them more on United where that is about it on the scope. God knows I'd take a ride in a 170 vs a CRJ7 any day.

No idea about DH8. But theyve decided to go without them for one reason or another. MX and Passengers booking away from them are often cited reasons. Best case scenario for RAH guys is for the PLanes that are being replaced, be placed into service doing something else for RAH in way or another.

I don't think that's a fair characterization of why these pilot groups made the decisions that they did. In both cases, scope was the issue at the forefront. Tough decisions were made on other issues in order to ensure that job security was guaranteed. An industry-leading FO rate doesn't do much for you when a holding company can just steal your flying and give it to someone else.

Contract decisions aren't always easy, but monday morning quarterbacking always is.
