Republic Hires 430 Hr Pilot!

Great justification! Just because she has 230 multi doesnt mean she's experienced.... Simply disgusting that they are now getting this low at even the "better" regionals...... Only one left now is Skywest!

disgusting? I think not:insane: Do what you can to feed the family!

Who is to say that this young lady doesn't have any other aviation experience (aviation weather forecasting, dispatching at a 121 company, prior ATC experience or work in dealing with the NAS)?

Best of luck to her.

She went thru ATP. ATP instructors have long been accepted with lower times thru agreements with the regionals. Mainly because they have a gazillion multi-engine hrs and airline oriented training.

I'll second that statement, good for her.
Minimums are dropping to compensate for the needs of the industry, that means the industry is growing.
We, as pilots, should not look down in dissappointment to the new freshman pilots of the industry. We were all in those same shoes at one point in our career.

and awaaaaay we go....

:D

This is my last thought on this subject.

A year ago, EVERYONE here with a little sense was gung-ho about being a freight pilot or CFI to get that experience.

It was argued that no low time pilot deserves to be on the deck. They just dont have the real world flying experience, regardless of how well they fly a sim at ATP for one week.

This argument has changed. Now everyone is pro low timer. I guess I just dont understand that.

What happened. SJS I suppose...

So do WHATEVER you can to feed the family? What happens if United goes on strike tommorow? You would cross the picket line to 'feed the family'?

I think you mean "accepted," then again it's obvious a lot of guys don't get hired for their grammar skills......

As for "whatever it takes to feed the family," I'm sure all the current Mesa guys working under crap work rules and wages totally forgive the guys that went to Freedom to "feed their families." Let's say Delta went on strike, and Skywest decided to fly those routes while they were on strike. Would you take the job to "feed your family?" If so, I wouldn't hold my breath on getting a job at Delta anytime in the future.....

Well, I was . . . defending your point of view.

My point is/was that a person with experience elsewhere in the 121 environment (dispatching), or working in the NAS (controller [that KNOWS the instrument system]), or as an aviation meteorologist (GREAT understanding of weather impacts to different portions of flight) . . . have more knowledge and experience overall than just a regular 300/430hr TT pilot. A 430hr TT pilot with any of the background knowledge that I just provided an example of, would be better qualified than a 430hr TT pilot WITHOUT those qualities.

Merit, disagreeing with me?

No, I don't work at United.
What does going on strike have to do with this subject???
It seems like everything gets back to a union with you.

A post was made that, "disgusting? I think not:insane: Do what you can to feed the family!"

There were guys who crossed a picket line to 'feed the family' while their fellow pilots were out trying to raise the bar. Those that crossed are scabs.

No everything doesn't get back to a union with me. It gets back to raising the bar for pilots from the hour one day one student to the 20,000 hour 777 Captain.

Do what you can to feed the family?, this statement was made in reference to a new low-time pilot just starting out at the industry.
New pilots need to start gaining their expierence somewhere, and they need to start paying back loans as soon as possible.
New entry-level pilots are doing what they can to feed the family, pay the bills, or make a living.
The original poster was not talking about a united picket line.

Your statement is completely out of context.

It took me 2 secs to figure out why she got hired. :D She's a looker.

I was the second lowest TT guy in my new hire class, but I had the most multi time at 310. Plus ATP has a written letter of agreement with Colgan for instructors to interview at 400TT/100multi. Thanks ATP!! Just finished my systems test tonight too....feels damn good, can't wait for sims. So far training has been difficult, but nothing that can't be overcome by some hard studying. I've been up past 2am since we've been here studying.

Yeah, thought that was you.:D

Great to hear things are good at Colgan! When do sims start?

O, congrads on systems passed!
