Republic E190 runway incursion LAX

It's very possible that the crew doesn't have much experience at LAX. Either way runway incursions seem to be a hot topic at all airports, especially LAX where the hold shorts don't leave much room for error after landing.

In my professional opinion it happened because they weren't used to operating such a big aircraft.

You know, I was thinking the exact same thing, but I refrained from posting it because someone would call flamebait on me or something. ;)

See what happens when you put 19 year olds with 250 hours in the cockpit? You didn't see Pan Am 747s getting into runway incursions back in the glory days.

:sarcasm:

Remember guys, it is important to confuse legitimate safety breakdowns with, someone bashing you for being a regional pilot.

In other words, when a colleague endangers the lives of his passengers and it becomes something that makes the news channels, it may just be because he's a regional pilot. That colleague could have every reason to kill everyone onboard. Perhaps he wasn't paid enough. Perhaps he was looked down upon because he/she didn't come in with very much time; that causes a lot of bruised feelings, and as we all know, that leads to a safety chain breach.

In closing, I'd just like to remind everyone, we are delicate little flowers and everyone should be super nice to us to spare our feelings.

And as always, extreme :sarcasm:

Good grief. Some of y'all need to talk to the good doctor about a light Prozac prescription.

That is correct. Back in the glory days, you would have 25 year old pilots with 250 hours in the cockpit. Not a 19 year olds. But to be fair, these 25 year olds just completed months of in depth training with high washout rates.

Give me a break. Thats the most ridiculous thing I've read on here in ages. The 190 isn't that much bigger than a 175...not like its an Airbus or something. Sorry you didn't decide to go work for Republic.

My guess is they were unfamiliar with the airport. We just recently started servicing that airport. Either way, it was a close call and we all should pay closer attention on the ground.

So does anyone want to talk about the incursion. Like I said I can see this happening on the north side. I hate being on the roll on 24L at the same time someone is landing on 24R. That being said it looks like it happened on the south side. I would like more info like did it happen at Tango.

Since we operate off the south complex, they try to gig us into that in the sim. It's not just RJ guys.

Runway incursions are the best way to get an inspector giving you a prostate exam.

Be safe, hold short, brief the expected hold shorts - especially where you can expect a short distance to hold bars.

Just because one isn't familiar with an airport doesn't let them off the hook.

I don't expect any "special treatment" because I'm unfamiliar. Pretty clear as day in LAX on where you're at.

They mucked up.

Generally speaking, whenever I flew into LAX, I'd brief the short high-speed turnoffs and even verbally mention it on the rollout.

LAX is an easy place to get into trouble if you blaze into there like it's Sacramento.

Correct.

10-0 pages (if they've got 'em), 10-9 pages, "green pages" (if your airline uses them), yadda yadda yadda.

If you're unfamiliar, SLOW DOWN.

Most airports I fly into are unfamiliar, foreign language/VERY broken English and sadly, you're half asleep when you arrive there so you gots to pay attention.

LAX can be somewhat of a challenge if you don't prepare yourself, but let's not fool ourselves thinking it's Moscow-Sheremetyevo.
