Rehab that puts alcoholic pilots back in the cockpit

HIMS is amazing, one of my old CAs says HIMS saved his life. He was a pleasure to fly with.

Alcoholics.

It isn't Recovering Alcoholics Anonymous, it is Alcoholics Anonymous.

I’ve dealt with alcoholism in my family. To a one, they all described themselves as recovering, once they actually stopped drinking. Just using their terms. But I guess you know better than them?

I've dealt with it as well.

I also been the Pilot Assistance Vice Chair since 2011 and have been around the HIMS program since 2009 and having known and seeing those Pilots on the video speak, they all introduce themselves to the audience as "Hi I am Lyle/Dana and I am an alcoholic"...

Alcoholism is a life long disease. So no, I don't know better. I am going off of what those who have the disease have told me and others.

Imagine you're the average dimwitted passenger, and you see "puts alcoholic pilots back in the cockpit."

That is part of the problem we are trying to correct towards HIMS. There is so much unjust stigmatization towards those with alcoholism and who make it through treatment. Why not take the bull by the horns, say folks are going to have the disease, but we have a proper treatment program in place for them?

Just cause it's accurate doesn't mean it's a good title. Something can be both accurate and misleading.

See above.
