Reflecting on Life

I'm feeling melancholy tonight. I'm almost 37 years old. Why am I still job hunting after all of these years? Why am I not happy where I am? What the heck happened to the last 18 years? It seems like just yesterday I was leaving for college? Why did the first 18 years of life take SO LONG... and more importantly, why did the second 18 years go by SO FAST??!!

Do you ever have nights like this? When you reflect on your life and wonder if you've just been ded-reckoning?

At 48, I've asked myself the same question multiple times. I wish that I could have made better decisions as I was coming up. In some instances I did and in others I didn't. For example, as I ponder to attend a reunion of sorts at ERAU in a week or so, some of the guys that I went to school with at that time are now seasoned CA's and FO's at the Majors. Like Delta, FedEx, United, UPSCO. It is clear....painfully clear that as far as my professional career goes, I could have made better choices. I still have time left to do so and will take full advantage of it.

I'm 10 years behind you, but think about those friends of yours who chose safe jobs after college and have driven a computer for the last 15-20 years in a 9-5. You followed the path less traveled, and have undoubtedly seen things on the clock that few of your friends could ever hope to. In my opinion, my worst day at work is still cooler than the best days of some of my college bud's jobs.

That is so true...
