Really JetBlue? REEEEAAAAALLLLYYYYY??????

Because he's their politician on a string. Whatever and whenever JBU wants a thing, he's there, leading the charge.

He didn't do a thing to protect them from the 'passenger bill of rights' aka the 'JetBlue didn't know how to deal with a snowstorm so everyone gets a new regulation' bill.

So, still not sure what your point is. Especially since every airline has a politician like him.

Ah, airports. A certain Central American airline started a second flight to a major US airport and was told that week, "Oh and by the way, customs closes on the Star Alliance terminal before your plane gets in, so have fun with a split operation".

They had been selling tickets for weeks, nothing the airlines can really do. But as someone who spends a large part of their job with planning for future flights and fixing the mess of the "come one come all don't say no to money" mentality, airports are businesses that don't care about the customer. Yes, they care about the passenger experience, but major airports know that if they say jump, any airline that wants to fly there is forced to say "How high"? US Airways closed PIT, Delta closed DFW, but in general, certain carriers are beyond invested into certain airports, and their threats don't go far. And as for the non-hub airlines, if they were mad enough to go to another airport, they would just do it. A gulf carrier popular on this forum spent a few years saying "If we don't get a second A380 flight, we are going to SJC/PDX instead". Every year the flight was requested and rejected, every year it was "I HATE YOU WE'RE NOT FRIENDS ANYMORE"...until the request popped up again, and again, and then finally, "Hey uh...so what if we bring a 777 in instead and operate late at night when you have more gates?", and that is what happened. It is hard to intimidate a major hub airport.

Though usually airport planning has nothing to do with the FAA as far as gates go, I will share a little tale from a few years back when a US major with a giant West Coast hub started scheduling their domestic flights with 15-20 minute gate holds, IF everything way on time that is, because the vampire leading their cult wanted "EWR West" at all costs, even if 5-10 planes at a time were constantly waiting around full of people missing connections. The FAA at this airport met with the airline and said, "trim your flight schedule, or we will close one of the runways daily to park your planes on and you can explain to the other airlines why we are on GDP delays every single day". Many frequency cuts happened. So once in a while, the feds do step in when an airport is fighting an airline. But only when their job becomes a PITA.

Jeebus, you view EVERYTHING though a left/right political filter, don't you? This wasn't a jab at RvD, it was a universal, "they all suck."

Delta got in a pissimg match with ATL back in the late 90s-early 00s over long term lease costs. Delta didn't want to pay what the airport wanted, so they threatened to move the ENTIRE operation to Nashville. In the end, the city blinked and Delta got what they wanted.

Umm, he's from my State, and yes, I know him.

Honest question, do you do much, just hanging out with the guys and shooting bullspit? I get the feeling that you're not able to let a comment slide for the sake of group chillness.

No need to worry about me.

That would've been interesting had it come to fruition.....

Once again, your place also has their 'go to' Congressmen. They wouldn't get involved with something like this.

Your comparative criticism is kinda sexy.

"Wow, my United flight is running late. I may not make my connection"

"PShaww! Delta ran late too! "

:)
