Sorry to hear about RIA. Good luck to you in the future and let us know if you find something.

Thank you so much. I appreciate the good wishes. Will keep you guys posted...

I remember that day, it was a sad day! I have heard that the old investors are trying to get Aloha started back up and they are still going after Mesa Holdings because of some illegal things they did.

Still remains the largest bankruptcy in Hawaii's history, and it occurred around the same time ATA folded. It's taken Hawaii almost 5 years to recover all that lost capacity. At least Aloha Air Cargo seems to be doing well. As for starting it up again, I doubt it'll work since Hawaiian has a near monopoly at about 85% share of inter-island traffic while Mesa has 8%. Plus Hawaiian is gonna get some ATR's so Island Air could also be in trouble

A recent interviewer put it best "I will take 90% less ability, for a 10% percent better attitude, any day of the week." Keep up your positive vibe and this sucky layoff will be the best move ever.

So sorry to hear that womanpilot.. Well I guess if there is a saving grace its that you haven't been there all that long..(not that it makes it any easier tho) when I was sent packing I had close to 20 yrs in and starting a new job in my 40's wasn't what I had planned. But in the end they did me a favor I work now for a solid company make more in salary and bennies than I ever have. Like people told me things happen for a reason (although I didn't want to hear that advice when I unemployed..lol) Well I know you networked big time to get on with Ryan so I know you have the skills to do that again . I know you will do well in the future.. Best of luck to you!!

Thank you so much for that... I know I wasn't there long but it is still tough. It's not just losing my job, but I'm truly sad to see everyone lose their job. Some people have been there for years. Also, I genuinely love the job and was learning so much. I was actually starting to get in a groove so it's a bummer to have that taken away. And of course I will miss the people. I had some amazing co-workers.

I can't imagine what your situation must have been like after 20 years... That's horrible. But I'm so encouraged to hear that things worked out for you and you are doing better than before. Good for you!

I choose to remain positive and know that though it's painful, it's a step along my journey in becoming a great dispatcher. I feel strongly that things happen for a reason and with the right attitude and continued effort, I'll land on my feet. And yes, I'll continue to network, network, network! :-)

Thanks again... I'm really appreciating all the well wishes and encouragement from everyone here.

Thank you Andy... The reality set in yesterday and feeling pretty down but I know this will lead me to another opportunity and Ryan was a great experience. The support here has been awesome!

Nah, do not let it get you down. Well, we are humans, it is easier said than done, but believe me...Always look on the bright side of life. Keep on smiling and think positively. You won't be down for long. Actually, I'm in dispatch school. I have no aviation experience. I quit my job to be here, but I'm looking forward with a positive attitude. You will have a story to tell. Things happen for a reason. Reasons beyond our understanding. Just be glad you've had those experiences with them...Never forget this lil saying, "You will never be the tail, you'll always be the head" no matter what...not in a cocky way...but, you know. Things will turn around for you....Oh, btw....here's a silly lil video to cheer you up...haha....you'll be alright!
