Most of the time the people you talk to on the phone have no idea what they are talking about. I am holding the paper in my hand right now. PPL through MEI gives you 30 credits.I talked to them today and hey said the most they can give you is 16 credits unless you have your ATP or a type rating.
If you register for the class then you must finish by the end of the semester, or take an incomplete. Then you have one year from the incomplete to finish.
If you already have the rating or certificate then it is just a matter of completing the quizzes, tests, and submitting a copy of your certificate.
The problem is that Pell/Stafford loans don't give you nearly enough money to do anything more than one or two per semester, so to do it quickly requires extra money, usually in the form of a unsubsidized student loan.
d' accordI understand that. If I went beyond Pell/Stafford (I would probably do my PPL in one semester, then speed it up) I could get things done faster, oui?
bangorangI applied today.
Plan as of now is to do PPL Locally+One other class, Then perhaps WhiteAir/SkyMates/??? To amp it up over the summer/fall.
If by requirements met you are referring to the UVlink registration requirements page, check that thing often, more requirements often pop up after you thought you had all your boxes checked.Hah. I like to get things done. I've completed every requirement except for them receiving my transcript (applied to have one sent from my previous school) and 'meeting' with an adviser..
Luckily I already filled out a 07/08 FAFSA and just had to add UVSC to my list of schools. PieceOCake.
Thanks for answering all my annoying questions. I honestly got them easily answered by just talking to UVSC, but that's beside the point![]()
were you talking to Aviation financial aid or the Main financial aid office? No, my EFIC is *0*. I've received max subsidized loans every semester I've needed them. He simply stated that I can't get the stafford loans specifically for flight training, and that the flight training can't count towards my school budget. I did get stafford loans, but only enough to cover the 'budget' they gave me (which is for residential students living at home..) I'm like, WTF? What's the point of saying I can get Federal Financial Aid for flight training. I wish I hadn't of called and just waited until my registration went through, this probably would have fixed my financial aid award.
I honestly think he didn't know what he was talking about in this situation, as the adviser who did my loan counseling made it seem pretty clear that I would be getting loans for flight(and he was helping me figure out how I could get the most)
I'm going to call tomorrow and find someone else to talk to.
