Question for AMF applicants

After submitting your application, what was the time frame before AMF called you?
I'm bet they are swimming in applications, I am sure it can be a while.

From what I have been told, you really need to be proactive and contact them. There is a particular individual in HR there to talk to. Surfing other AMF threads will pull up the name. Good luck

At Amflight, the squeaky wheel gets the grease.

1-800-800-4JET is the phone number, and I believe that Sherri Hudson is handling the calls these days (though I'm not positive on this one, you'll want to check the other threads to make sure). Sherri's a very nice, down to earth person who I'm sure you'll enjoy chatting with.

Exactly this. Your info is still current.

AMF gets dozens of apps daily. They like to see a follow up that shows interest.

I got a call from an assistant CP, he told me to expect a call from Sherri, a week went by, so I sent him an email. He told me she's really busy and to expect it any time... that was 3 weeks ago.

I am still amazed at the hiring going on here! Its awesome, but at the same time, I dont see where people are going. We've got too many PA31 drivers out here in OAK.

Don't worry about being overstaffed, THE LAST thing you want to see is an understaffing situation.

lol, yeah good point... it was probably like that back when you were here huh?

I just hate sitting on reserve :(

I was in the training department during the massive hiring wave that went on in 2007, meaning we end up picking up the guys that couldn't get jobs at regionals. The wash out rate was high, and the turnover rate from Amflight to the regionals was also high. A lot of guys would come in, get 6 months in the Chieftain and bail to places like Skywest and Horizon.

We were averaging around 5 days off per month in the training department.

Seriously? AM res is the best there! show up at 5, preflight, go upstairs and sleep until mr p calls around noon. then play for the day!

If'n ya don't hear from them then just pick up the phone and call them. I know people who waited for months to finally get the interview and got invited to the ground school very quickly after that (wthin a day or so). On the other hand I put my resume in got a call the next day and the interview was set up for 3 days later with an invite 2 day later. There was no appreciable difference in resumes between me and the others. Hours and experience were about the same even geographical location was the same. What was the difference? Hell if I know!

So if you don't get a call then call them...simple as that.

The new guys always suffer from the "I want to fly a lot syndrom" while I suffer from the "I want to work as little as possible syndrom"! Heck, why not? You get paid the same either way! :D

Don't get me wrong. I'm still building my TPIC so that mentality has changed. But when you have 500 hrs in the pa-31, having the day to play with the same pay is... umm yay! (I am thankful for the multi time I have, I know many would kill for even a 100)

I hear what you guys are saying... im sure i will learn to love the reserve, BUT... I passed my checkride 2 weeks ago and have only flown TWICE since then! I'm itchin' to get out and fly! lol

Congrats! welcome to the OOTSK. I don't blame you though... flying the line is good times. Espcially 261 (or 262?)
