Purple and Eskimo close call in EWR.

This is the issue with landing 22L and 29. Surprised tower didn’t send Alaska around earlier as they have an alarm that goes off if it’s not going to work. Maybe last minute change of speed on FedEx or something meant he wasn’t going to clear the intersection in time.

Daaang I just listened to the LiveATC; that approach controller was SWAMPED with traffic all over the place and handling it like a champ.

They still managed to advise Alaska on the ILS 22 about the FedEx ahead of them on the RNAV 29, and later slow them down (they did swiftly).

Which freq were you listening to?

I'd say this is a nothing burger. System worked as designed. Maybe the situation could have been recognized earlier 🤷‍♂️
Still didn't stop a Captain Steeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeevvvvvvvvvvvveeeeeeeeeeeeeee "Uniformed" speculation.

I reported it on YouTube. You should too.

Seems like a standard day at EWR. Same at PHL using 35/27R ops. The only thing that’s surprising is that it doesn’t happen and reported more often. As a side note…after spending 34 yrs going in and out of places like EWR, JFK and PHL on a fairly regular basis and as much as I loath that part of the country, I’ve found ATC in those places to be the best in the biz!

It's been a lot of years but go arounds below 500 feet were pretty normal with 35/27R ops in PHL.
