Purchased a BOSE X as of 2 minutes ago!

Sheep skin leather wears and no longer holds its shape after a lot of wearing. You could get away with out replacing, but they do it for free, so why not get new ear cups every 2 years.

So, I finally received that brown box today that took 'forever' to get here (2 business days). :nana2: AND...the BOSE is awesome! I absolutely love it! Wore it back to back with the Zulu - I do like the Bose better! Thanks for all the comments!

Just throwing out another opinion on the Bose vs. Zulu...

I flew for a few hours yesterday switching between the Zulu and the Bose. The Zulu (brand new) was just as comfortable as the broken-in Bose, felt lighter (and it weighs 1.5oz more), sounded significantly better to the others in the plane and had something about the ANR that made me favor it over the Bose. I've been using another Lightspeed ANR headset for years now, so I'm not new to the ANR crowd.

In the end, I went with the Zulu. Also, the trade-up program made the Zulu almost 50% cheaper than the Bose. Why pay $500 more for less? My friend who has been wearing a Bose for several years now just switched to the Zulu and now gives his Bose to the passengers in back.

$.02... I suggest to anyone in the market that you go out and try each of them! Everyone is different.

PS - To add some Bose praise, I'm currently wearing my QuietComfort headphones...amazing! :nana2:

I love my bose headset. I've put 1000 hours on them. About 300 hours ago I called bose and they sent me a replacement set of ear seals for free. A $20 value. They said it was a one time courtesy, but IMO for what you pay for the headset, they should give ear seals for life. Anyway, the biggest downfall of the bose is when you lose battery power. There is no noise reduction. Not even passive. It's actually worse than no headset at all. I was using Energizer Lithium batteries last time and they lasted about 80 hours! However, when they go dead, it is with very little warning. I took off and the light was green. After an hour, I noticed it was blinking red and a few seconds later it shut off. Just be sure you carry extra batteries.

Lightspeeds are the biggest pieces of crap!! They have good customer suppot though and you will get to know them when you send in your headset every month for repair. A friend of mine has already sent in his Zulu's twice.

I've had my X11's for two years, they dont have all the fancy bluetooth functions but you can drive nails with them.

The Bose are real nice, but they clamp my big head real bad.

I've got the Bose X, and love it. The price should be lower, but I do not regret buying it.

Wait a thread with Bose in the title and no Jace response yet? What is this world coming too! :)

I'm on it. Bait...

Bose makes great sound equipment. The quality of their surround sound systems is fantastic. The price is fantastic for their quality Lifestyle surround sound systems, and even their Bose wave radios are fantastic. Everybody should have a Bose Lifestyle Surround Sound System if they want to experience premium performance and elegant design. The reason Bose systems are a little more on the expensive side is because they are obviously the best systems available.

Probably cause Energizer sucks. I use rechargables in mine and they'll run for a couple hours with a red light.

I'd agree that the battery life rocks, but again, when you lose them its with very little notice. Lucky for me I carry one extra set, so it's really a non-issue. ;) :D

I usually carry extra as well. Just not this time. With regular alkalines the headset usually goes for about 5 hours flashing yellow and maybe one red.

Haven't bought batteries in 2+ years with this setup. I keep the rechargables in my flight case. I use the same batteries for my MagLite as well.

Rechargables are definately worth the investment, and like someone said above... they flash red on the Bose for a long time before conking out. Even after two years... I'm still getting a month+ out of 1 full charge.

:)

I too like the Bose X. Good headsets. I do swap out on occassion with the Clarity Aloft headset, but the XM sounds better through the Bose Xs.

I tried a pair of Bose headsets about a year ago. It is without a doubt a great headset but there is no way in hell I would pay $1,000 for one.

I've had my Bose for almost 2 years now. Loved it in the Baron, in the 210, in the 145, and in the 170. Life is good. They're definitely high speed, low drag.

I dig the Zulus, but not gonna spend another $800 on headsets . . . lol.
