So i just ordered the Bose X! :rawk: Im excited about it, yet still shaking after seeing that "total due" upon checkout!:banghead: Obviously, I knew the price was high and went for it anyway. I'm a private pilot and I just started my intrument training. Did I make a mistake of paying an arm and leg for this thing? Or will I later realize I did the right thing? The money wasnt that big of a deal and I liked it better than some of the other headsets I have used (Zulu, Denali, X11, etc). I know the answer to my own questions, but I guess I'm just looking for some other owners inputs! :D

I don't own a pair but I did try them on once and it sure was quiet.

The price seems to be the only downside.

From everyone I've talked to that owns a pair, those that justified the cost have all been satisfied with the performance.

I don't have a lot of experience with bose headsets. A student of mine got a pair for christmas and he let me try them out yesterday. When you put them on they are just a really crappy pair of headsets. When you push that little button on the cord though...WHOA!!! Words can't even describe the difference it made. They are light and uber comfortable since they don't push to hard on your head.

Of course keep in mind that I only wore them for about 10 minutes. I did however used to sell home theatre systems and from that experience I can tell you that what you pay for bose you get your money's worth.

I have had mine for 5 years. Sure is comfortable and quiet. Haven't had a single problem. Wouldn't buy anything else at this point. I hope they last 10 years for me. Batteries last a long time.

I got mine on Ebay three years ago and have put 2,000 hours on them since. IMO, the noise reduction can't be beat and the battery life is impressive too. The David Clark X11's don't compare. The only headset I might consider getting other than the Bose is the Lightspeed Zulu. The ANR is almost as good as the Bose and the bluetooth connectivity is really cool.

I would suggest you always keep them stored in the padded zippered bag that comes with the Bose X; I've found them a bit fragile especially if you drop them :banghead:. Also, send them back in to Bose every 500 to 1000 hours to replace the ear cups.

I've had mine two years. Nothing compares. You will not regret the purchase and after time you'll not feel the pain of droppin' a G.

Don't really have much to add besides I really love my Zulus. Sweet sounding iPod interface and $150 cheaper. It makes these 6 hour aerial survey days go by pretty quick.

Bose audio equipment is overrated, this headset is not. Best $1000 I've ever spent, never had a single problem with them. I've had them for about 4 years and just now replaced the ear seals (I probably should have done it 6 months ago).

While I agree, yes the Zulu is a very nice headset and the bluetooth feature is swell!, I have worn both the Zulu and the Bose, and for me the Bose wins hands down! Maybe not solely on sound quality, but on comfort, sound quality and yes, style! The zulu is a great headset and I do not have one bad thing to say about it (even tho you can't hear what Im saying because of the music you're listening to), but FOR ME, the Bose takes the cake! It's all a matter of opinion....<------thats mine!

I have about 20 hours with the Bose and I love em. I just don't have the money to be able to afford a pair though.

I've had my Bose for more than 1200 hours of flight time and they still look and work like new. I haven't tried the Zulu, but the Bose is worth it to me.

Also, send them back in to Bose every 500 to 1000 hours to replace the ear cups.

Why do the ear cups need to be replaced? I don't seem to have a problem with them.
