Does anybody have any idea precisely when the January panel is taking place? I'd like to take a tour of my potential facility, ZDC, but was wondering if its already too late to try and improve my position.
Furthermore, does anyone have contact information for ZDC? I remember all the centers were listed before, but I cant seem to remember what thread it was under.

Just an update per my HR rep:
Afternoon,
This is my monthly update to keep you informed of the hiring as i know it
today.
Reference Central Service Area (CSA) - hiring quotas, the majority of them
have been met for this fiscal year and are ever changing with the ones i
have left to fill.
There are numerous factors that impact hiring at any facility and those
needs and issues change all the time. Some of those issues would be
attrition, budget, training failures, economic impact, etc., all of these
and more impact how and where we are allowed to hire and when. I hope this
brief explanation will help you in understanding some of the items that
impact us all in the hiring avenue and especially you that are awaiting
that call that we have a class date to offer you.
I look forward to assisting you as we all move through this hiring process
and move towards our common goal of obtaining a class date and to begin
your Air Traffic careers.
Please let me know if i can assist you with concerns that are not addressed
in the Q&A below.
I will email again in about thirty days or so, till then i appreciate your

We have compiled a list of questions that are most frequently asked of us
to assist you with some answers to those questions. I hope you find this
information helpful to you.
1. I am turning age 31 within the next couple of months, can i still be
hired after my birthday?
Your aging stopped at the time the tentative offer letter (TOL) was
issued, as long as you do not decline.
2. My clearances are expiring soon, can i refresh them now to stay
current?
To minimize inconvenience to you and cost to the agency, we will
refresh them on as needed basis. You will be contacted when we are ready
for you to refresh any that are needed at that time.
3. How long are my clearances good for?
The drug test is good for six months. Medical (physical and
psychological) is good for one year. Security is good for two
years.
4. If I request to be redirected to another facility, can I get into the
Academy quicker?
The majority of Terminal or EnRoute have met their hiring quotas for
this fiscal year -FY10 (Oct 1- Sept 30) and are not entertaining
redirects at this time.
5. Could you tell me where I am on the list to get into the Academy?
We schedule Academy class dated based on TOL dates. Place "in-line"
is impacted as other applicants decline offers or cannot obtain
required clearances, so the list is ever-changing.
6. When will we know about FY 2011 hiring/class scheduling?
Hiring quotas are not received until late August/early September.
7. When does my tentative offer expire?
A TOL does not expire. If you are no longer interested in the
position or the location, you can decline the TOL, at which time your
offer will be cancelled. Also, your offer will no longer be valid if you
cannot obtain and maintain the required clearances.
Please note - if you decline a firm offer when made, then your file
will be marked as a declination and you will have to reapply for future
considerations when available.
8. I have a TOL and took my ATSAT several years ago, when will I have to
retest?
You no longer need to be concerned about the ATSAT test, it was for
initial screening only.
9. Do you need a copy of my Official College Transcript or DD 214 (Member
Copy 4)?
Absolutely. Please ensure you have sent one or both, if applicable,
as soon as possible.
( DD214 is the service record of active duty military members,
issued upon separation. )
10. When do you think another General Public/Off the Street announcement
will be released?
There is not one projected to be released anytime soon.

Read the whole post directly above yours; it will answer many questions.
That makes me feel a little better about my chances, but I did talk to a guy in the training department at a facility and he told me I needed my FOL; or maybe I got confused by something... The same guy told me that the reason for the recent slow down in hiring has to do with the company contracted out by the FAA to do training in OKC. They are set to layoff about 150 instructors, leaving only 30 or so... The union filed a grievance and it may get heard by congress before the layoffs occur, but congress might still be mad about that $5mil convention the faa had in atlanta a couple months ago.

Man, I love EM. She's not my rep, but I met with her during my PEPC in Atlanta to get my TOL and some other stuff. Friendly woman, definitely has applicants' best interests at heart. Not saying that my own rep, SF, doesn't. Just that EM really went the extra mile by sending out a rumor-killing letter.
I'ma buy that woman a pizza.

So I will be graduating college soon and planned on at least knowing whether or not ATC was a possibility for me or not by the time I had graduated so I decided to call Aviation careers. This is the first time I have ever called them. I have read posts on here about people saying al sorts of things when they called but the response I got was "They will be meeting on or around the week of the 22nd of March". This was in response to me asking status of my pubnat7 application. So perhaps a positive outlook???

yeah its true. im at CTI school and my dean told us that he was informed that they were going to have the meeting around that time, but they also said they "most likely" (lol Typical FED talk) will not be hiring too many people due to problems with Raytheon, which runs the training down in OKC and at the inidividual facilities....but a panel being held is never a bad thing, right?

Things could not go more perfectly if I got selected. I got a well qualified score so hopefully all will go well and I wont have to go job hunting for too long after I graduate!!!

Even if you do get picked, you're looking at a minimum of a year's wait from the point. Easily more. Unless you can go that long without an income, you'll still need a job.

I am definitely able to wait a year or more even if I am accepted.I am really just more interested/excited in continuing the process. I would like to get to the next step even if I do have to wait over a year.
