***PUBNAT4***

very long....

PUBNAT1...Tested April, Geo Prefs in May, Referral list and Selection in June, PEPC in July, and now still waiting....

PUBNAT2...Tested in July, Geo Prefs in Aug., Refferal List in Sept, and now still waiting...

PUBNAT3...Tested i believe at the end of Aug or beginning of Sept, and they are still waiting on Geo Prefs...

Soooo....Pubnat4 is gonna be a pretty decent wait most likely. hopefully the process speeds up for everyone, but expect to sit around for a long time...

We tested during the 2nd week of August. That would make it nearly five weeks, with no geo. prefs.

Does anyone know for sure when the PubNat3 geo emails are coming out? I've read multiple different anwsers on here and when I called the careers guy said he wasnt entirely sure. Most likely Oct. Not very reassuring!

It has to be by next Friday, if we're going to be considered for November panels -- if it takes 3 weeks to submit geo. prefs, and 3 weeks for a referral list.

This is speculation, of course...we're all in the same boat.

I took the ATT-SAT test this previous friday 9/12/08 in Holtsville, NY scored 88.3 any idea on if that is well qualified or qualified? And how long will it take for a referrale list come out?

I am pretty certain 85 and up is well qualified. My husband was just qualified for the FEBOT application (the one in February) and didn't get picked up. His score was from June 07 and now we believe is expired. Soooo he has applied again under PUBNAT5 and hopes to take the ATSAT again- this time hopefully scoring at a well-qualified level. Our story is a doozy to say the least.

The score expires after 3 years, but he can retake it after 1 year. I'm not sure if he'll automatically be asked to retake it since it's good for another 2 years... you may have to contact someone about that.

Hey chichi or anyone else who's beeen around to know whats going on..is there a post that explains the whole process from "zero to hero" i.e taking the test to oKC? I'm still having trouble following all of the jargon used here...geo-pref's TOl..FOL etc...

Ok... the general idea...

1. Apply - self explanatory :)
2. Receive authorization on ASAP (Automated Staffing and Application Process) to take the AT-SAT (Air Traffic Selection and Training). Your information is sent to Robinson Aviation and they will contact you to schedule your test.
3. Take the AT-SAT, receive your score... 70-84.9 is qualified, 85-100 is well qualified
4. Anyone who passed the AT-SAT (scored above 70) will receive a geographic preference email. This is where you choose up to 2 states and whether you want to be considered for terminal, enroute, or both.
5. Next, you may be put onto a referral list... the status of the list is updated on ASAP. You will only see that you're being considered or you're not... it's nothing too interesting, but a step forward anyway... not everyone will be on a list.
6. If you're on the referral list, your application will be reviewed when the hiring panel meets. This is where they make their selections. If you're selected, you will be contacted with a PEPC (Pre-Employment Processing Center) invite and in this email, you find out what state you've been selected for and whether you're going terminal or enroute in said state.
7. Go to a PEPC if you can... at the PEPC you find out exactly what facility you've been selected for and you will receive your TOL (Tentative Offer Letter). You'll also have your interview, medical, security, and psych all in that one day. Some people will receive a tentative OKC start date at the PEPC too.
8. Wait for your FOL (Firm/Final Offer Letter) and official OKC start date.
9. OKC time :nana2:

Add some waiting time between each point and there you have it :)

Well, if you look at my signature, it will give you a pretty good idea of how long you have to wait between everything, I seem to have gone through at an average speed. I hope to see some of you PUBNAT2 guys at OKC, and maybe some of your PUBNAT3 at OKC guys too.

Side note, I did take the advice of one of the controllers at the MEM PEPC, and got rid of my dead end relationship before i got my pay raise lol. (I know that has nothing to do with ATC, but I am just going a little :crazy::crazy: and my head is doing this :panic::panic::panic:) Chichi.... what is your opinion of Upstate New Yorkers that are in CA now? I kid I kid

Thanks for your input Sunburn...So another month or so if I'm lucky enough to get an invite to a PEPC...that's cool I don't hate my current job...So guess I'll keep on waiting...lol

Yeah, it takes about 6-8 months from the closing of the annoucement to when you start OKC, which as far as Gov't jobs go it really quick. At least in the prison system, it takes about a year.

Thanks for that info Sunburn. I've been wondering about the timeline as well. Sunburn is right though, the Transportation Security Administration took a little over a year to hire me. So 6-8 months is quick!

so 6-8 months? im trying to figure out if i will be attending another semester of school. school starts in january does anybody have an idea when pubnat4's will goto okc?

That number's a little optimistic. The FebOTS (PUBNAT1) group has been the quickest group to go through yet, but it seems that things are slowing down again. PUBNAT2, which closed early May, has just had its referral lists put together. PUBNAT3, which closed May 31, hasn't even received geographic preferences.

Because there hasn't been much uniformity in the process, it's hard to predict exactly how long the process will take from Day 1 to the Academy. I'd say it's more realistic to expect a date in 8 months to a year, following the current trends, but that's only if everything goes -perfectly-. Miss something in your first application, score too low on the AT-SAT, limit yourself too much on geographic preferences, screw something up at the PEPC, and you're pushed back to the next PUBNAT group (if you applied for it), lengthening what the end date will be.

In other words -- keep your calendar open and expect the wait to be longer than you may hear predicted here. It's tough to tell, but if it comes sooner, hey, great. Believe it or not, the process is actually much faster than it used to be.

If I were you, I would enroll in that semester. Academy dates for PUBNAT4 aren't going to come until early summer at best. Besides, people have been able to work out deferrals in order to finish classes, if you ended up needing a few extra weeks.

Just logged on to ASAP...AT-SAT score: 86.3 :bandit: What a relief.

Whew! That's a well qualified score right?

When did you take your test? I'm taking it tomorrow and i'm starting to feel the best of my nerves slowly getting to me!!!!:banghead::laff:

Yep, it's well qualified... Congrats CirrusDriver!

Don't be too nervous... I was so terried the night before the test and I must've used all my nerves that night because when I woke up in the morning, I just wanted it to be over with.

You just need to relax. I know thats easier said then done, but its true. Parts of the test can be tough, but if you've read most of the posts on here about the test nothing should really shock you. I walked out of there (much like a lot of people on here) thinking I didnt do so hot and I scored in the low 90's. I'm sure you'll do fine, good luck!
