PUBNAT3

Sooo... everyone will be on it. Even people who scored Q? Can you be on it twice? I really thought I had a grasp on this process until now...

Everyone who scored qualified will be sent a geopref email, but they will only make the referral list if the states they list are hiring.
At the same time, someone who scored 100 could be left off the referral list, if the two states he put down in his or her geoprefs are not hiring at the time.

I believe when you make the referral list, you are considered by both states you list as long as they are both hiring. (So technically yes, you can be considered twice in that sense)

No, you can't be on "it" twice. And by "it" I assume you are meaning the referral list. You make it on the referral list if you get a good enough score on the AT-SAT. Then, you state your GEO. PREF. Then the panels meet to review the pool of applicants. Then, a hiring manager, this part is important, from areas that are in need of controllers, looks at your score and your application. If he likes what he sees you continue on in the hiring process. However, if the FAA isn't looking for controllers in the areas you put on your GEO. PREF., guess what, there is nobody to even see your test score or your application. Result, you don't continue unless you are willing to open up your GEO PREF to where they really need controllers.

I we won't actually see the list, but won't the ASAP page update and show that our application was or was not included in the referral list for the states included.

Are you telling me we won't know if we are on the list at all ?!?!

I thought I was confused before.
I am going to stuckmic.

It will say this;

Referral list FA-AAC-08-13582: Issued on 06/06/2008 for the Throughout The Nation duty location at the FG-1 grade/payband.
Your application is among those being reviewed by the office with announcement # AAC-AMH-08-PUBNAT1-08232. You may or may not be contacted for an interview. Please continue to check back for status updates.

Boomer--- You are the best!

;)

Kinda a bummer to not know what state you are up for...

You won't know until you get an email from your PEPC coordinator or HR rep that lets you know (Yes, they are two different people), the order for emails for PUB2 in terms of hearing from your HR Rep and PEPC Coordinator did not mesh up with each other. PUB1 rec'd info for the PEPC Coordinator first, then their HR rep a couple weeks later.

Center folks will find out their facility before their PEPC and it looks like PUB2 Tower folks found out, PUB1 Tower folks didn't find out their facility, only their state, until their PEPC... so never knowing the FAAs next move, who knows how they'll do it for PUB3.

Wow I didn't think my questions was going to spark a day long discussion about the referral list.

Well I didn't do so hot on the AT-SAT (got a 84.5) but I hope all my networking pays off. I got on a plane to Vegas the same day I found out I passed the exam and took tour of KLAS and KVTG the next day, got a lot face to face time with them along with some other towers in the states that I selected. Keeping my fingers crossed.

Getting picked up at the panel is the hard part. Also, you will only make the referral list if the geo preferences you chose are represented at the hiring panel. If Washington and Oregon aren't hiring and you put those states down, you don't make the list.

So does anybody know what states will be represented at the Pubnat 3 and 4 panel? I am specifically curious whether or not AK/HI will make any selections this round considering there are separate AK and HI announcements following Pubnat 3 and 4. Has anybody heard?

Well face time is always good. As you know being in the military face time and someone knowing your name is either a good thing or a bad thing depending on your circumstances. Good luck in your endeavor and know that your life has a plan. :nana2:

Is there a difference between a hiring manager and a manager over a facility. The reason I ask is because I went to PHL tower a few weeks ago and I spoke with the manager of that facility, who is also a manager of other facilities in that area. He was very helpful, answered a lot of questions, but he told me that he plays no role in selecting who comes to PHL tower and it is the "FAA" who makes that decision. In reading this post I wonder is he the actually hiring manager or is the hiring manager a totally different person?

Yes. Facility managers don't know anything about who is hired (unless you are selected for an interview and go no pepc, in which case they still aren't the ones who select you for an interview). They never see your application. They find out they are getting someone when you start at OKC. People I have talked to suggest there are some regional HR people involved--

There are a few people who are facility managers who are apart of the hiring panel and will select names for their region off of the list based on Geo-Prefs and At-Sat scores. Other Facility Managers can request that your be "captured" for their facility.

I just noticed that my ASAP page was updated 12/29/08 with "ATSAT Score Entered" and the entered score was actually a little lower than the score that has been posted there since August. Anyone else have this happen?

question... I know this has probably been addressed... but previously took the atsat for pubnat 2, got my score back, then I just logged on to atsat for the first time since I didnt get picked up for pubnat 2 and on 10/29 it said I have not been selected to take the ATSAT at this time. Is this just because I already have a score on file? Please let me know... thanks!
