PUBNAT3

One of my preferences will be ZNY. I'm still waffling on the other though. I was thinking ZBW at first, but I'm not confident that they're not close to full staffed. Which has made me think of ZAU as my second choice.

I spoke to a controller from the Cape TRACON through email recently. One of the many things he told me was that ZBW does have low staffing of certified controllers, but it is already chock full of trainees. I don't know if that means they aren't going to take any more, but I just thought I'd let you know what I heard. Also, he said ZBW is usually a minimum of 3 years check out time.

Im hoping that he might have thrown my name around the office if I get picked for Mass.:D

Gah. I just checked ASAP and got all excited when I saw new stuff on the home page... but it was just this:

As of September 17, 2008, several enhancements have been made to the system:
The timeout feature has been changed from 15 minutes to 30 minutes.

The military question #9 of the Military section of your User Information has been changed to "Does your DD-214 or discharge papers reflect that you served in a Campaign or Expedition for which a Campaign Medal has been authorized?" Please check your answer to the question (if applicable) to ensure it is answered correctly.

The Forgot Password function has been changed to Need Logon Help? (User ID or Password Assistance). Please refer to the ASAP Applicant Users Guide, located in the Help tab, for instructions on how to reset your password and/or request your user ID.

...dang.

Hmmmm. today is the 18th and there is no PUBNAT7 yet...perhaps there won't be one? They usually come out 15-16 I thought...we'll see...

Well in the case of the November panels, I believe it because he spent quite a bit of time calling around to ask people who did know what was going on. He straight up admitted he didn't but went to find the people who knew the answers. The information he gave me was very specific, so I believe him.

The last geo preferences had 3 weeks to be submitted, I believe. Maybe four weeks before panels. So on that time frame, for November panels, we could see them at the beginning of October.

Not ewe, Silly. I meant, all of the people who seriously believe it's going to take three months to get our geo. prefs. WHAT?!??!

Yes.

Regardless, panels in November would be in the correct time-frame. PUBNAT2 panels end in late September, PUBNAT3 panels start in early November. Panels a little over a month apart for announcements that were about a month apart sounds reasonable. Especially considering that the FAA originally intended to combine the two announcements, before RVA sent the scores in late.

I'm pretty excited to think that we'll be the first panels of the new fiscal year.

A supervisor friend informed me the next set of panels are tentatively scheduled for late January. Anyone else hear of this?

Well if thats the case...then it kinda blows the theory that some people have posted about the next selection being in November.

You know...come to think of it...I remember someone with a strikingly similar name like mine said the PUBNAT3 applicants will have a LONG wait...and then getting blasted for it...

Wierd how that works...dont you think?

Nope we've heard November.

I seriously doubt the next panels would be five months after the AT-SAT dates. That would a be a hugely unprecedented time gap between AT-SAT and panels. It would also be a waste for the FAA to have 3 other PUBNATs sitting around for so long.

I think the PUBNAT3 November panels are scheduled, and maybe they're tentatively scheduling a new meeting in January for PUBNAT4 or something like that.

Seriously. That would be really inefficient of them.

...oh, wait.

So far the time from application submission to OKC has been long for each OTS group, but fairly consistent. If panels were in January, it would blow the current system out of the water. Whereas November would only be a one month delay.

It does sound about right for PUBNAT4, if they have PEPCs in Jan., Panels in Dec., Geo. prefs. in Nov., and take their tests in Sept./Oct.

So I just heard some bad news...I was talking to some guys that are stationed at Tinker AFB and they said that beer in OKC is only 3.2% alcohol :-( i know its a little early to plan on celebrating with everyone but i want everyone to know that you are in luck, they sale regular beer on tinker afb and i have full base privelages! so while we sit and wait for the next step in the process, i dont want anybody to worry about the 3.2% alcohol once we get there.

Just go to the liquor store for 6pt... although your big domestic brews won't be available.

Wow am I antsy. I called aviation careers a minute ago. Pam said geo pref letters should be out by the end of this week and to check back mid-next week if I don't have it by then. This is what I have been told every two weeks for quite a while now....
Here's to hoping we see something soon;)

I was told by pretty reliable source that the next panels meet in early/mid Nov for 3 and Mid Jan for 4. I hope I wasnt misinformed! Jan would be a long time to wait for pubnat3 !!!:(

Cool! We've heard the November date also, so it's good to hear that from another source. And someone above just mentioned the Jan panels, which I figured were for PUBNAT4. So both of those things fit with what we've heard.

I think PUBNAT 1 and 2 had their geo prefs 3 weeks before panels. For panels the 1st or 2nd week of November I'd expect to see them the week of October 20 at the latest. That would also fit with the 2-3 month after AT-SAT test range that we were given.
