Pubnat 5/6

Called FAA career division yesterday. Said nothing really new, wait a bit and they will be out. Yes, the boards did meet when everyone said they met. The reason I called was because somebody said if you said "no" to temporary employment they would trash your application since it is technically temporary employment at the start. This obviously flies against common sense.

Regardless, if you put "no" on the willing to take temporary employment it won't matter.

single-sided baby...all 1200

The current one is 628 pages, how did you get 1200:confused:. I printed mine off last year double sided and two pages per side. So at 4 pages per sheet, it was just 157 pages.;)

Although, I think mine was slightly smaller. It was pre change 2.

Obviously, I'm not a counter. 628 sounds right...maybe it just looks like 1200 sitting on my desk. I printed it at work after hours, and I was tired, so I was probably a little more reckless with the rainforest than I should have been. Wow, there were four "I"s in that sentence. I'm a raging egomaniac.:sarcasm:

Congrats on the class date, btw. Good luck.

Friday business hours are almost over.................

Although our geo prefs emails did come between 4 and 5.

Well it looks like next week is going to be just like this one. Sitting at the computer and constantly toggling between here and gmail. I need to get a life....wait, I need to get THIS job, the life thing will follow.

Does anyone ever wonder what percentage of applicants are represented by these boards? I often wonder how many people we're up against here.

i like to think everyone thats not on these boards wont get picked and probably forgot to show up to there at-sat because they dont got people screaming about how they got there at-sat email. it makes me feel better that way to think only these people on the boards will get picked. but then again i live in my own little world inside my head where nothing goes wrong and i will get picked for this job. :D:crazy:

Your logic is flawless. I believe you're probably right. Congrats everyone on getting picked up!

A lot more people than post here I would think. They keep 3,000-5,000 applicants in the hiring pool, which is far more than we have active members in this section of the board. I'd say the majority of applicants are not involved here at all...the ones here seem to be more dedicated to the potential of the job. A lot of people probably just applied because it was a job and they were looking for work. Half of them probably forgot they even applied. I know I did. It was months before the AT-SAT email came, and by that point I pretty much just figured nothing was going to come of it.

Don't forget the lurkers, I was one for several months before I first posted, although I didn't start lurking till after I took my AT-SAT, maybe if I had found this before the test, I would have scored higher

I was going to mention this as well. A lot of people read the forums but don't post.

Out of many thousands of applicants, less than 1000 are generally chosen.

I think the numbers are something like 2000-3000 applicants and about 750 are chosen.

Some people have more exact numbers. Like somewhere the FAA press releases will tell the number of applicants. And we figured out 750 because for 3/4 there were 3 PEPCs and each had 5 potential days to fill. The PEPC can see 50 people a day. That's 750 spots allotted. Not all were used, but not everyone goes to the PEPC.

Please go visit the 3/4 forum. Not as many of us get picked up as you might expect.

The statistic thrown around here is that 2 out of every 100 applicants is selected and that we should feel very lucky to be here. ;-)

applicants, yes, considering that many people probably don't get invited to take the AT-SAT at all, many of the people that DO take the AT-SAT, do not get GeoPrefs, and I assume that not everyone who gets a geopref makes the referral list (although I haven't heard of that case yet).

Assuming we are "still alive" at this point in the process, what are the chances? I think that is the question we want answered.
