PSA New Hire FO Classes Suspended

Welp the only thing worse than the lines in the June bid pack, are the lines in the July bid pack, whoever builds these things really just needs to be taken out back...

saw multiple 3 days with less than 13 hours credit, and multiple 4 days with sub 17 hours credit. Dozens of 18+ hour overnights in JAN, TRI, EVV etc, ah well, hopefully SAP works out for next moth.

I got a message today from a reliable source with an update on training classes. This could be subject to change.

Through September there will be:

Class of 8 FO's twice monthly
Class of 15 DEC's twice monthly
Class of normal upgrade captains twice monthly

The normal classes are scheduled to resume in Sept or Oct.

Just got an update from PSA after emailing HR. Next realistic FO class date would not be until at least November. Said everything until then is full. I was planning on trying to get the TYS base and not commute. Now I have to come to grips with getting on at another regional and commuting! :(

Anyway, if anybody is waiting to hear about an FO class, you might now hear anything for a while!

I wouldn't give up just yet... Inevitably some people won't show up or will cancel their class dates a week before it happens. If your really earnest you can just keep bugging them and see if they can get you I sooner or on short notice.

Bid out for 10 CLT capts closes today, if you have the time put your bid in. I was waiting for my vacation (first week of June) to pass, so I just put my bid in. Hopefully see some of you guys in class.

Good luck in upgrade class. My friends from new hire class passed without incident and are enjoying being captains. I have many more months before I have the time.

On a more personal note...Woohoo! I move up another spot in base seniority as an FO!!!

I do wish you guys luck, but the DEC is creating a sticky situation. The union is against it, as it is not allowed by their interpretation of the contract. There are also many pilots on property that are against it. The company is hiring outside DEC's rather than fixing the problem that created the need in the first place.

The captain shortage is completely self inflicted, and there are enough FO's that are eligible to upgrade to fill all of the needed positions, but the constant disregard for our contract and the poor quality of life while on reserve keeps people from wanting to give up their relatively decent QOL that they have as senior FO's.
Why wish them luck? It's creating a rift among pilots at psa? Boo hoo. Pilots and the union are against it? Somehow I have no sympathy for there self inflicted wounds. It's ironic psa pilots are making a stand in some sort of fashion in unity I'm assuming, unity among pilots is the biggest joke and what's truely wrong with this profession

I see nothing wrong when pilots from multiple carriers join a group that is picketing, nor do I see anything wrong with pilots from multiple carriers volunteering at the scene of a crash. Unity seems to be the appropriate term to apply in these examples. I'd agree with your statement if you are referring to a lack of unity or persons who feign unity.

Thanks man, I'm looking forward to it!

I've got zero 121, so I'm dang sure it'll be over before I get the chance, but then again maybe there will still be a chance of making CA relatively close to getting the magic 1000hrs 121 time..for me the draw to psa is that it has the nearest base to me, and "fingers AND toes crossed" that BNA will become a crew base soon.

It will be a crew base just as soon as they can find a regional carrier based there to lowball.

Dang, I'm waiting to hear from them after my interview... It looks like it may be a little while.

So what's the real skinny on PSA? Can't get much out of the a**clowns over at the "other" forum. They are too busy trying to measure tools.
The real question(s) are: How much more growth do they have, via staffing additional planes and attrition? I understand for a prior 121 guy it'd be a decent lateral move, but for a newb, have they already hired theast guys to upgrade? In other words, would a new FO hired between now and say December, be a FO forever?
I am no really interested in the flow and all that jazz, as I'm basically just using the regionals to get myself to a fractional. Not to say I wouldn't take a major gig, but that's not the ultimate goal.
I'm looking at PSA simply because I can drive to TYS easier than commuting to another company I think.
I ask about upgrade simply because of the pay increase, and in the event I can't get on at a fractional within a couple years, I'd hope to get some PIC and a decent bump in pay if I'm gonna hang out there a while.
I appreciate the more mature and educated responses I see on here vs over "there" and I hope you guys can make sense of my post lol!

One thing to keep in mind is there are still 70 more airplanes to be delivered over the next two years so that sounds like a heck of a lot of new opportunity.
