PSA New Hire FO Classes Suspended

So I went for an interview at PSA and was told that due to their new street captain program and the backlog of FOs at different stages of training, they have suspended FO new hire classes indefinitely. They think it might be 2 months before they start training FOs again. Sounded like they weren't even going to be interviewing many FO candidates either. I got put into a hiring pool and they'll let me know when they're going to have another class. It was somewhat disappointing.

On a side note, the CP mentioned that managment is considering 3 potential cities for their new pilot base. Nashville, Louisville and Cincinnati. Said they'll announce the "winner" in August.

Haven't heard anything on our end, but that's not exactly surprising. I suppose it was bound to happen? We will still have more than enough FOs on property through 2015 it's just a matter of getting them into the airplanes faster. So I guess the plan is to hire street CAs for a couple months then resume business as normal.

CVG would be beyond asinine. I wouldn't put it past them.
Not a single one of those bases even sounds like a smart move... From my perspective Nashville sounds the most enticing, but I don't think any of them would necessarily entice pilots to leave their current base.

Does anybody know if reserve captains are flying a whole lot or is it basically MMG all the time while you sit in a crashpad and rot away?

You will fly everyday if CLT based, there is always something going on out there. DAY and TYS will fly most days but not as much as CLT from what I have seen. If you don't get used you can pick up trips on days off for add pay at 125%, I've made over 100 hrs of pay every month on reserve (helps that I drive to work).

PSA is still recruiting First Officers, just not at the 60/Month. They are going to run a few Direct Entry Captain classes in June/July then pick back up with FOs (at a date TBD). They have about 100 FOs in the training pipeline waiting for sim or IOE so there is a bit of a backlog. They are still on track for 71 more airplanes over the next 2 years.

They will be recruiting for Direct Entry Captains as First Officers at our upcoming Dallas Job Fair on July 17th
