PSA Airlines - October 2024 Thread

Roger that...I saw the 4-3 10Hrs on the spreadsheet, was just curious when are you working the 10 hour shift within the 24 hour day? It looked like there may have been a few posters on this thread that have worked at PSA before that would know. Trying to visualize what one of these ten hour shifts would be like in my head. From reading other posts it sounds like your on duty for ten hours with no significant break other than to refill the coffee, take a leak, or any other bodily administrative tasks needed, which is the way I like to work anyway.

At my regional, there’s AMs, Swings, PMs, and midnights. If you need to do something, you just have someone watch your desk and you go warm up lunch, get coffee, take a piss, whatever. If it’s not busy, you can go for a walk and stretch your legs. But typically, you’re not going to be constantly working while at the desk. In fact, barring an IROP, you’ll likely be able to take a break whenever.
 
It used to be 4 am and 5 am starts, followed by 2:30 pm and 3:30 pm starts. I think it’s about the same, possibly there’s a later shift for any flights operating into the CST like SAT, OKC etc.

Right now it's definitely long walk season haha

AA hired a few from PSA at the end of 21 and beginning of 22 (including me) but none since then. PSA had complained to AA that nobody wanted to go there because they didn't hire many if at all from PSA. So in the big hiring blitz, AA wanted several from PSA, but PSA told them they couldn't have them all. I suspect that will affect future hiring from PSA.

Half the guys I worked with (you included) are there now, it was a heck of a selection. PSA definitely deserves to be a mainline priority
