So I was on a Republic flight this morning - an e175 out of PHL (flight 3297) and I know that there are quite a few Republic crews who frequent the site. At least, I think there are.
I didn't want to bother the guys while they were doing pre-flight, so I asked the FA to pass a question up to the flight deck - were either of the pilots posters/members of JC?
I figure if they had no idea what I was talking about, they weren't, and if they were, they'd know right away and maybe I'd have met another JCer.
But this was the conversation, verbatim:
FA - "Well, I can't ask them right now..."
Me - "Oh, of course not - I understand they're very busy right now. Maybe during cruise or some time at the end of the flight?"
FA - "...But...y'know what? I can't ask them that. And even if I could, I doubt they'd want to answer. Sorry about that. It's not going to happen."
Her body language and tone changed toward the end of that, and while she was certainly polite, I got the distinct impression that this would be a futile course to pursue. The CA and FO were gone before I could catch up at the end of the flight. So I smiled, said thank you anyway, and watched my TV shows on the laptop. But I was annoyed, mostly because I can't figure out if this was bad thing or I was just ignorant.
1) Did I do something wrong?
2) If I did, what's the right way to ask if the crews are JCers?
3) Would it annoy you if a passenger was asking specifically about JC?
4) Were you, dear reader, part of the flight crew on 3297 today?
