Problem

If it helps to diagnose:

At home, Windows XP, FireFox 1.0, enter through jetcareers.com/forums -- does not seem to be a problem.

At work, Windows XP, IE 5.5, enter through jetcareers.com/forums -- I have the problem until I expire cookies.

Not criticizing the furniture, just helping Doug perfect his Feng Shui.

John,

I'm actually running release canidate 0.8 in Linux. I installed 1.0 finally the other day, but it will only install to my root account. It seems to be a known issue with SuSE and the installer program with Firefox. I'm running 1.0 in Windows, but I honestly don't spend a ton of time in that operating system. I'm either gonna have to download the source and compile myself or find an RPM that's precompiled for SuSE 9.0 and I'll have 1.0 on my regular user account.

Everything helps!

I'm just suprised they released 6.5 with a problem.

They're software engineers... I am no match for people that probably still carry around 'weighted dice' and have more hit points than I do.

Did you let Mozilla know? They seem to be pretty good about fixing bugs.

It's been brought up on their forum's. It seems that it's actually a SuSE, Debian issue. No issues with Hat, Mandrake, or any other flavor. It's my understanding that Mozilla knows about it, and I imagine they'll have it fixed soon enough. It's not a huge issue, just a pain at the time. The real fix is to just compile the code myself. If I were not as lazy as I am, I'd probably do just that

It kind of helps the problem when you log out and log back in...

Still working on the problem.

I thought all this stuff was supposed to be point-and-click and WYSIWYG?

Doug,
I click on the forums link and have had the problem of not seeing new posts. However, when I cleared the cookies as you said in a different post, all the new posts were now higlighted..hope that helps.

Dude, I may be the one Asian who is completely clueless when it comes to computers. Yeah, I can install new memory or new cards, but get much beyond that, and I become as able to comprehend things as my cats.

So herr webmeister fell victim to the "upgrade because there's an upgrade available"?

A friendly word of advice from someone who's been there, done that: if the upgrade doesn't fix any problems you're having, or doesn't offer compelling new features that you simply cannot live without, seriously consider not upgrading. You know, the old "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" saw.

Actually, the upgrade fixed some problems with situations that I was having earlier and added some features on the admin side of the house that were sorely needed. I skipped about four upgrades in the past six months.

However, it's a lot like squeezing dough. You might get a grasp on most of it, but some still slips thru.

Mmmmmmm, dough.

Now that you have plenty of input, I too am having this issue. I just link in from my favorites, but I think it's jetcareers.com, and then I use the forums link on the upper left corner of the main page. I'm using WinXP and Firefox (not sure which version, but I just downloaded it last month, so probably the most recent).
