Private pilot License in a Cirrus?

There is nothing wrong with doing a PPL in a 310 horsepower Cirrus 22T. I know more than two people who have gotten their PPL in the SR22.

As far as avionics and CC, it is more up to the people that the training is associated. A DPE who flew with a student in a Cirrus about a month ago asked him the usual deviate/time/wind questions. Rather than pull out the plotter and all that stuff, he looked at the MFD and read the numbers off the screen. The DPE talked to him after that and said that was ok to do because he was 'using every available resource.'

The small problem with your post that I noticed, is that the guy is 60ish years of age. The learning curve may be a little slow... If he wants to do it, all you can do is try.
